It seems like he is more interested in proving himself individually to get a big contract than he is being a role player for a championship level team. Might be happier putting up big numbers for a scrub team.

Since he is on a relatively small contract, thoughts about making sure his next contract is big could be heavily influencing him. If so, the distraction could become even worse until he actually get the new contract.

Don’t see this at all. He’s a rhythm offensive player that barely takes shots.

It’s more like square peg round hole syndrome.

Is he going to get enough shots to find his rhythm on this team next season?

4 years in college. And giving up Hart instead becomes a bigger mistake each day. Hart has that winning pedigree.

Keep crying for players that are not on current roster: randle, Hart...

He's in the top 1/4 of the NBA in shots per 36. What's he need, Giannis' and Harden's usage?

Kuzma IS getting his opportunity to find his rhythm. It's us who are fooled by his production in summer league and the first half of his rookie year (something he was never before nor since).

Hart was easily replaced by Danny Green and KCP. I liked Josh too. I think he was a solid 2-way role player and will carve out that niche in the league.

What the Lakers needed was a 3rd option shot creating guard, something that Hart was simply not and will never be in the NBA.

Keeping Kuzma over Hart, easy decision. Only one of them has ability to drop 30 points, and be a 18 ppg scoring starter. Now Kuzma not fitting in to the team, that is unfortunate. But talent and trade asset wise, Kuzma definitely better than Hart.

Hart would figure out how to fit with this team, unlike Kuzma his bball IQ is high. And he understands winning, something Kuzma doesn’t. But the FO made their choice and it hasn’t worked out. According to Ireland some recent choices have been made based on emotions and I’m not sure that is the best way to make decisions.

Hart would have been solid, but I think that would have meant we needed another forward to replace Luzma, and Hart likely takes the place of AC or KCP.

why do people keep bringing up his draft position/salary as an excuse? We are way beyond that at this point. He wants to play the part of a top player for this team and the team has valued him as that which is why we kept him. So far he has played well below the trajectory we hoped. If wants to be just held to the standard of just the typical late round player 3 years in, he would have been trade fodder to some small market team already.

Two things can be true at the same time:
* Kuzma has exceeded expectations of a 27th pick. He's top 5-10 of his draft class. He's a legit NBA player and an offensively-gifted one. It's possible that on another team where he gets minutes/opportunities he becomes a prolific scorer and a plus player.
* Kuzma is NOT fitting into this current team: he's not (yet) the third option, nor is he (yet) a dynamite 6th man. He's sketchy on defense, and an unproven defender against the NBA's better wings.

That was an underwhelming draft class

Mitchell, Tatum, Fox, Bam, John Collins, Jarrett Allen, Markkanen, and Lonzo (a non-shooter who is shooting better than Kuz from 3) are all better than Kuzma. If he makes the top ten in his draft class, he is barely making it. You can exceed expectations and still be a scrub in the end.

I think having lebron / vogel looking over his shoulder is causing him to over think. There is no explanation for his downgrade in IQ. This guy travels at least once every single game when attacking the close out. Picks up his dribble right next to the side lines. Always fouls people by putting his hands on their hips. Takes dumb shots.. what is going on kuzma???? I was a big fan but idk what is going on. I don't think he is happy coming off the bench.

Fultz had one of the weirdest injuries/yips thing I've ever seen but even he's coming around this season.

Hopefully, he stays wise over the break.
It would make games so much easier if things click for him in the 2nd half of the season. Hopefully.

Do we try and get Brandon this summer? Do we have the cap space? Is he even our answer at the 2?

The thing is, a lot (most/all?) of these guys who are improving this year are younger than Kuz (and on rebuilding teams, who can afford to wait for a turnaround). Kuz is probably already near his ceiling as a player since he turns 25 this year, and, if the Lakers window is 2-3 years (more like 1-2), Kuz potentially brings nothing in this window for us.

I would answer that as: No. Perhaps if dont re-sign AD? No.

At least Hart could play defense when his shots weren't falling. He's built like a bull. Hart would have been like an Artest like enforcer. Kuz is just...soft. (That's what she says)

I always thought Hart's defense was overrated when he was here. His post defense was nice for a small. But his perimeter defense made me upset a lot.

Has he gotten better in N.O.?

I think we’d be wise to at least try, depending on who else is on the roster though of course.

If we end up with any true 3rd option, then no.

Can't be worse than Kuz. A quick RPM check. Hart ranks 38th while Kuzma ranks #329. Lebron, Giannis, Kawhi ranks 1,2,3 respectively.
