That doughboy, Deron Williams, is probably the most impressive pre- to post- draft story I have ever seen. No one thought he would have the career that he had in Utah.

Some of us did.

Deron Williams was the #3 overall draft pick.

What was pre/post draft story?

He has very good on ball skills. Triple threat skills...

Steal of the draft.

A lot of so called experts on this board called DWill Doughboy and said Felton would be a better pro. It got pretty heated.

I see. So D-Will was an extremely impressive LG pre-post draft story. But to the rest of the basketball world, he was a top 3 pick who made the all star team 3 times. Something not so unexpected from a high lottery pick.

Pretty mind boggling that people are comparing our 46th overall pick to Deron Williams and saying it’s a bad thing.

D Will was a 3 time all star and an undisputed top 2 point guard in the entire league along with Chris Paul for a stretch. I like THT a lot, but if he amounts to anything close to that he’d be the best 2nd round pick since Jokic in 2014.

The notion that Deron Williams was the best pre/post draft story is ridiculous. He isn't even close to the top 100 guys who outperformed their draft position.

You had Hall of Famer George Gervin drafted in the third round. Dennis Rodman, Manu Ginobbli, Tony Parker, Dennis Johnson were all second rounders.

Heck, I wouldn't even say Deron Williams was the biggest success story of his weak draft class. That would go to#4 pick Chris Paul.

Going to the hole against NBA training camp invitees and finishing over 6'7" guys is fairly run of the mill stuff. Looks like a Division III college game.

I'm just thinking about a third of the Raptors roster coming up through their G-League system and comparing the basketball there to Div III college ball. Curious.

I was at the game last night, the Spurs had some long, athletic bigs (Eubanks is impressive). I have concerns about THT's lateral quickness and conditioning. Saw him get completely taken out of the play on screens a few times. On a positive note, he's smooth offensively and I think he'll develop into a reliable shooter. Definitely not shy on offense.

Serious question for those that have been watching him over the season.

Could he be a role player with the big squad? What are his weaknesses keeping him in the G League?

Could he earn mpg? At what position? And at whose expense at this point? Resting Green or KCP?

Just curious. I have not been watching and keep hearing positive. But where would he fit if he came up tomorrow? More importantly, able to contribute more then most of the dregs being most considered and discussed.

Calling it for what it is - it's a developmental league that, for the most part, and most teams are the equivalent of 2nd tier Euroleague clubs.

So is he a shorter Paul Pierce-ish?

If he was a shorter Pierce, he would be playing in the NBA. Same goes with any other comparison player.

I mean AD is 6’10 and he’s the best rim protector in the league, kind of silly to base it on height alone. There are plenty of big men in the G League.

And your comment about it looking like a D3 college game is super ignorant.. I went to a D3 college and went to plenty of basketball games, and I can assure you that this is worlds away from being anywhere close to D3 basketball. This is a solid tier or two above D1 in terms of overall talent (effort/intensity might be a different story).

Not saying THT is going to be some all star or anything, but stringing together a few big games in the G League at 19 years old is nothing to sneeze at.
