Damn, that brings back some memories. I still remember going over to my friend Joe's house after summer practice with a bunch of guys from the b-ball team to get the first look at Kobe. I've never even seen an SPL game except the ones from that summer, but damn, were we excited. Every time he entered a game that year, even when he was pulling that stupid-ass stutter-step move that he abandoned after a couple months, I couldn't help but move to the edge of my seat. I would guess he's still the youngest guy to ever win a slam-dunk contest, too.

I've said it many times. Kobe Bryant is a one in a million talent that Laker fans should enjoy while they can. We've been so spoiled with Wilt and Jerry and Magic and Kareem and Elgin, now Kobe. Some day not too far away, Kobe will be gone and the memories will be all that's left. Enjoy this kid today, he's very special.

Good read! Thanks for sharing.
I didn't realize Kobe had already been a huge attraction since SPL.
