Hey All,

@BleacherReport LeBron James' MVP Case Can't Be Dismissed with an assist from @nbastats on some of what LeBron is actually doing on the court that's so incredible https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2879521-lebron-james-mvp-case-cant-be-dismissed

Also @BleacherReport Would Prime Shaq Dominate Today's NBA? https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2879479-would-shaquille-oneal-dominate-todays-nba - yes, but also some quotes from Shaq (happy birthday Shaq!)

Cheers,

EP

Well reasoned. I particularly like the addition of potential assists, and points generated by assists. Good stuff. At the very least, these put LeBron right up there at or near Giannis--whose PER is in mix for best of all time.

People forget that "young" Shaq was slim (well slimmer) fast, strong and dominant, he was not the fat, slow, lazy Shaq that people saw his last bunch of years...

No one could stop shaq then...today? I bet he puts up a 40+ ppg average and 20 rbpg

Zion has no outside shot and everyone froths over him. Shaq would just post up and score or kick to an open 3 guy. Your team wins 60+ a year. You need a closer tho cuz they hack a shaq

Enter kobe

Add kobe from threepeat? They win 70 games a year.

As kobe would say “you can take that to the bank”

Prime Shaq didn’t care about the MVP. He saved his dominance for the postseason. So, he would dominate but he’d probably be a load management player like Kawhi.

The guy was really strong, took tons of punishment but would just get angry and brute force even more. He was also for a guy of his size surprisingly agile. Down low he mastered the drop step and spin moves to get dunks.

His strength was no joke. I saw him with 2-3 guys trying to hang on his arms and pull him from an easy dunk, trying to foul. He brought them up with him as he got the and 1.

His game was by the hoop but he was skilled at it down there. Additionally he was a pretty good passer.

Jokic reminds me of the old sabonis on portland...shaq made that guy who was really good, cry. Hed make mince meat out of jokic.

And with todays nba you can hide your big close to the hoop if you like by playing zone. So the weakenesses teams exploited on defense i dont think would be as big an issue.

Btw one of my favorite memories maybe someone can fill in the blanks...

Lakers at Miami when they had Alonzo Mourning - a damn good center, great defender

Lakers trailing at half by 10-20 points. Mourning getting the better of the matchup at that point and started talking trash

Second half shaq comes out angry - proceeds to block mourning 3 times, starts going nuts scoring...game over, played a big part in the comeback especially on defensive end

EDIT: Found a game summary online: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/lakers-overcome-the-heat/

Mourning was terrific, but that second half Shaq just showed how much distance there was between them as players.
