Next to a healthy Steph and Klay, they are already pretty much great contenders in the West. But it'd take a healthy year from all 3 of them at high level.
If worst came to worst, Wiggins would be a trade chip in a deal for a superstar.
For example, if AD stated he wanted to go to the Warriors, the Lakers could ask for Wiggins in a sign and trade like what they did with Brooklyn to get Russell for KD.
Same thing they could do with Milwaukee if Giannis decided he was out.
The Warriors are playing chess. ON TOP OF THAT if they get a top 3 pick this year that is also a trade piece.
Essentially they could potentially have a Top 3 Pick + Wiggins as trade chips for this draft and otherwise. If the Warriors got the Number 1 pick, and AD said he was going to leave and the Warriors came offering us Wiggins + the 1st Pick, we'd have to take it.
Or if Giannis was feeling disgruntled if Milwaukee fails this year, and Giannis starts hinting he may not stick around when his contract ends, the Warriors would have those two things to wave at teams.
If Wiggins is healthy, their 'worst' case scenario in that instance, is keeping Wiggins and drafting James Wiseman... which is a pretty great 'worst case scenario' for the Warriors of what happens with their assets.
So the Warriors are looking at 3 options
Curry, Klay, Giannis
Curry, Klay, AD
Curry, Klay, Wiggins, Wiseman
Either one of those is a great situation for them off this season. |
What makes you think AD wants to go to the Warriors? Paranoid much? |
Because it fits his still bitter, we should of kept our Yutes, AD could leave for nothing narrative.
Also, how come in this scenario, the Warriors are guaranteed the #1 pick? That's not how the draft lottery works.

I also have a hard time seeing the Bucks trade a possible 2 time MVP a year b/f his FA as a panic move to the Warriors of all teams. It's a ballsy move to hold on to Giannis but i think the Bucks will do that, and IF he moves in 2021, i could see him trying to facilitate a S&T like KD did with the Nets. I can't imagine AD joining the Warriors next season and Giannis being panic traded by the Bucks either. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

The point of my post wasn't to say that AD wanted to go to the Warriors or that the Bucks will panic trade Giannis if he told them he wanted to be traded.
The point was about the Warriors acquiring the assets in order to make those moves if the opportunity presents itself and be a team that feasibly could.
Yes many teams "want" Davis and AD, but most teams that will have the space to sign them outright aren't teams they'd talk to anyway(teams like the Knicks). The Warriors are a team (with Wiggins + a Top 3(potentially Number 1) pick) that can feasibly make a legitimate attempt at AD or Giannis if the opportunity presents itself. Because of Wiggins's contract and their top 3 pick, they can make those S&T attempts/offers.
This is why they've made the moves they've had to acquire those kinds of assets. It was to put themselves in their current position. As I said, they can look at three scenarios with which they'd have the assets to pull off if given the opportunity.
Their 'worst case' scenario, is a team with Curry, Klay, Wiggins and a Top 3 pick. Their 'best case' scenario is landing another superstar via S&T. The Warriors acquired these assets in order to make those moves if given the chance.
Also, Davis hasn't given any indication that he's staying or leaving. As for 'why' he'd want to go to the Warriors? Finals contender once more, paired with Curry and Klay, with a longer Championship window that LeBron has left. The same reasons Dwight went to Houston. Thought they'd be title contenders, and had a longer window than he did with Kobe.
Does it mean Davis will leave? No. But it's because of the moves the Warriors have made that they're even in the position to make a S&T offer to him, if he indeed told the Lakers he wasn't returning. The main point, is regardless on if the Warriors pulled it off or not, Curry, Klay, Wiggins and Top 3 pick is still as fantastic 'worst case scenario' that they could ask for. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Let me simplify this: Wiggins and the lottery pick are potential trade assets if the right opportunity comes up. That's true.
But your scenarios about Davis and Giannis make sense only if Davis or Giannis specifically targeted Golden State as a destination. Wiggins plus a lottery pick is not a strong package in the context of a superstar trade. In his sixth season, Wiggins still isn't an all-star, and there is no one in this draft who looks like a sure thing. I can envision your scenario about us agreeing to a sign and trade to facilitate Davis moving to Golden State. We would probably demand more than Wiggins and a lottery pick, given that Golden State could not sign Davis on its own. Also, the lottery pick would have been used by that time. But sure, in that hypothetical situation, Golden State could make use of those assets. |

The Knicks had massive cap room this summer so they had the ability to make KD/Kyrie happen.
only, KD/Kyrie didn't care about the Knicks.
That IS the whole ball game. If AD doesn't want to go there (and I'm 99.9% sure he is coming back, but likely on a shorter deal to match LBJ's), and the Bucks will hold onto Giannis and only do a S&T IF he leaves in 2021 as a FA, then you cannot dismiss whether AD/Giannis want to go there. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I guess you're missing the point.
It's not whether you theoretically can do it. What indications have been given that the actual player (AD/Giannis) are demanding it?
Of course no one wanted to go to the Knicks. But the Knicks had the theoretical ability to do it, just like the Warriors may with Wiggins (who wants that deal) and 2 lottery picks. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

And as we've seen, the credit will always go to Steph/Klay/Dray. Do AD/Giannis want to be known as the guy who latched on? Ask KD. (an no way they win 2 more titles with KD IMO). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Giannis will stay in MIL if they win a chip. If not, he's bouncing.
At least that's what he said. And I believe him. I can see him going to GS to be honest. I mean it's a near perfect fit with Curry and Klay. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

But the question is whether that happens THIS Summer.
I don't think that will happen. I can see Giannis being an outlier and staying on the Bucks, or even going to the Knicks of all places. Would he team up with 3 all stars and then have the whole KD thing around him (though obviously different age/circumstances when it happened). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Oh I agree on that part. MIL will risk it and keep him till his free agency. He's too good to trade. Either he'll win a chip there and stay. Or they won't and he'll leave.
Giannis wants a chip. More than playing for the Bucks or being liked from the fans. He may not end up in GS. Just because other teams will be building great squads as landing spots for him as well. Like Miami for example. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

Imo the KD experience will turn off stars from forming super teams. They saw first hand what happens when it’s not your team.
I don’t see Giannis going to a team with Klay and Curry or even Lebron and AD.
He will do what Kawhi and KD did if he doesn’t stay in Milwaukee. Go to a destination with one other top player. |

At least that's what he said. And I believe him. I can see him going to GS to be honest. I mean it's a near perfect fit with Curry and Klay. |

Miami's a good one. Even Toronto.
I love Giannis. Favorite non Laker. But I have a hard time seeing him come here. I don't see him joining a Warriors bandwagon either. I think he will break the traditional places and stay on the Bucks or go to Miami or even Toronto. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I've personally felt that the strongest competitor for Giannis will be Miami. He can stay in the eastern conference - play with Jimmy & Bam. They have a ton of shooting and defenders and a proven winning culture.
If Giannis leaves my bet is he joins the Heat. It's hard to turn down Riley and I think GS suffers from KD's decision to leave GS. He's set the precedent that you can be the best player on GS and still not get your lion share of credit. _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

I can totally see Miami or Toronto.
Butler and a solid supporting cast.
Siakam and a solid supporting cast.
Although Toronto is a little bit older, but Masai is one of the best PBOs if not the best. |

I could careless if we don’t get Giannis but we need to hope he doesn’t come to the West, facing him 4x a year will be a headache. |

Concerns of the actual illness aside, this will affect the 2020 projected salary cap if we have a prolonged emptying of stadiums. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Masai is also a close family friend of Giannis and his family. |

(bleep) just got real. Windhorst said LA teams could lose up to 15m per playoff game if there are no fans. In his opinion, the season would be suspended he said. _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant |
