I’m not going to dance on Bernie’s presidential grave, and I’m glad he’s been discussing things with both Joe and Obama. In the coming days I hope for an endorsement.

Eh, Karma's a (bleep).

I struggled to take that high road, Mule, now you're pulling me back IN!... She's a stain on friendship and impartial politics from a government employee. That stain will eventually dry up and flake away in time.

The Berns are having a collective tantrum right now. My recommendation to the 'See the Big Picture' Dems right now...stand down. Let them have their tantrum. Don't even engage. Let them cry, spit, and pound their fists into the sand for the next 2-3 months. Maybe, just maybe after they blow their load, enough of them will put on a stiff upper lip and join the 'See the Big Picture' Dems. No guarantees, but there is nothing to gained from engaging with them right now. They're too angry about not getting their way.

I went over to Shaun King's facebook page, and he said that Biden has to EARN the votes of Bernie's supporters and he has to WOO them. I guess that's the next talking point as I've heard that from many people on social media. I'm pretty sure Biden's surrogates wouldn't be using that language had Bernie been the presumptive nominee. They'd simply tell people to vote for Bernie. Period. Fortunately, there was a lot of pushback in the comments.

If the choice is between authoritarianism and saving our democracy, and you have to be "wooed" by a candidate that the latter is the right way to go, I rather work on attracting more reliable voting blocs.

Preferably one that actually votes.

Having to be 'wooed' into saving your democracy...imagine that.

Amazing there are still people who are hellbent on pulling the same crap they did in 16. Back then their excuse was that Hillary was so repugnant (compared to Trump) that they'd rather vote for Stein a la Sarandon or "blow up the system" and vote for Trump if not simply stay home. Look now with that Hillary excuse no longer in use and some of them will still do the same thing against Joe Biden, who's about as bland as can be. He's probably no more a centrist than Bill C or Obama, yet Trump Term 2 will still not register with some of those selfish mo's. Hope it's not nearly as many as there were with Hillary.

No one can blame Russia/Russher after the fact this time either. Everyone knows they're a player and an online manipulator. Won't (or shouldn't) have the same impact as it did when most people weren't hip to it. To do this against Biden is almost like hosting a large church crowd right now and the attendees going out to the store in order to infect others, maybe children, maybe elderly. How is that something they derive pride out of? I don't listen to Rogan, but he seriously needs to man up come election day and do what's right if he wants to maintain any normal liberal audience non-radicals that he has now. Doing Alex Jones isn't a smart thing for a supposed liberal at heart. Say Biden wins, I'd feel all the more sorry for Hillary for all the things that blocked her from winning, tho she made mistakes like every campaign does.

That's good. The Berners love the "don't know where I am" thing with the same relish as the MAGAs.

One of the first posts after that joke:

I unironically don't think Biden actually thinks he knows what is going on and is just being told what to say

The continued value of Russian interference is their great bot and troll army that continues to feed dissension into the left wing into world. It’s not a coincidence that their interest continues to not be Trump and the GOP but the mainstream majority of the Democratic Party.

Linda Tripp. Hated what she did and she was vile for lacking the empathy to do that, but I wouldn't even wish pancreatic cancer on her, but that's apparently the cause. Hard way to exit the earth.

May she RIP. She was briefly a small, but meaningful cog in a gross affair and I have no knowledge of her life before or after that I event, so I hope she had many better moments therein.

Seriously, she was terrorized by popular media for ger looks instead of anything else, and it was vile.

Yeah, but, it’s like hating on Gacy for his art. Not going to feel bad for someone who should have been shunned and scorned who was, but for the wrong reasons.

She was vile, and that has nothing to do with her looks.

Then why was John Goodman tabbed to portray her on SNL?

Because it was funny? Humor often has a punch line that is offensive or offends someone, some thing or some group. Regardless, she could look like Charlize Theron and she would not be less vile--though not likely to be portrayed by John Goodman.

Yes, and she was ridiculed because she, as a person, was vile. Her looks just made for another way to illustrate that fact - whether or not one finds that appropriate.

Trump's average approval has fallen by about 1.2 percent in the last couple days on 538. Not huge movement, but his upward movement was only 3 percent since early March. It's heading toward 43 percent again. Which is about where he was at the beginning of the crisis.

Biden also looks good in polling.

My biggest concern is voter suppression.

Difference between the far right and far left.

Far right: what do we need to do to beat these (bleep)?

Far left: why should we vote for the candidate of the 75% of the party that rigs the primaries against us?

Policy isn’t really THAT different. Sure, there’s some pie in the sky, but mostly the good work dems have done has been done by guys like Bernie AND joe and Nancy. It’s a trumped up rivalry. Designed to allow the right to take over.

That’s the simple fact. Mainstream liberalism doesn’t fall to socialism. It falls to fascism.

Agreed. Policy wise the far left is much closer to Biden than to the far right.

I think Biden can win if Bernie's 25% of the party stays home. But I wouldn't mind if we play nice till November and maybe cut that % down a little.

By all accounts. Biden and Bernie actually consider one another friends.

Biden can win by minimum margins if the non-college white voters that switched from Bernie in 2016 to him in 2020 end up voting for him in November. In November 2016, they either stayed home or voted for Trump. The margins were so small in MI/WI/PA in 2016, it only takes those people to win those states. That's why Biden won Michigan by 15 points this year. They left Bernie and voted for a perceived moderate. Which tells us they didn't vote on policy for Bernie in 2016, they voted for him because they hated Hillary. That's not something to be proud of and I hate it that we have to attract those kinds of people to the Democratic ticket, but that was Biden's main appeal when he announced his run, which was to take those voters back in the general. Democrats have been losing and will always lose among that segment of the population, but they lost by bigger margins than usual in 2016.

Trump's people know that, and that's why they've always been afraid of Biden in the general election.

Good points all around.

The only caveat that we should consider is this pandemic. I'm a little wary transplanting those results from 2016 and adding to them.
I just say that to say lets play it smart and try to get as many people to the left of the GOP to show up. Variables have changed since 2016.
Good news is, I'm sure alot of Dems are willing to risk their health to do their part to avoid 4 more years of Trump.

Not from the Biden side. At lest not that I have seen. And I have never seen anyone from the Biden group (or Warren or anyone else) ever even remotely say, "If Bernie gets the nom, no way I'm voting for him. I'd rather vote for Trump".

There is definitely an authoritarian mindset on the far left. It's not nearly as malicious and is motivated by a different set of factors, but what it shares with the right is the conspiratorial, victimization narrative. We've clearly seen it in the Bernie campaign. That's what alienated me from the Bernie campaign in 2016 as I saw it firsthand with friends who became irrational in their support of Bernie. And since they all use social media and keep telling themselves how great Bernie is, they end up living in a bubble in which no one else but Bernie participates in politics for good reasons. Everyone else is corrupt. And then they end up promoting slogans like "Not Me. Us." even though all of their energies are directed toward Bernie and no one else. The authoritarian mind is full of contradictions.
