Pretty encouraging. The NBA seems to be the only one of the "big 3" sports leagues to not royally screw this up (although there for sure have been some minor missteps).

NFL and MLB are complete cluster (bleep) right now.

Great job by the NBA. If you watch some of the Vlogs (Javales and Matisse on 76ers). The bracelet to track them. The mask requirements. The constant testing.

It's really impressive.

I see Dwight being kicked out. Stop making it about your self and follow the rules & wear the damn mask every where Dwight.

Canada's low case rate is due to locking down all hospitals and doctor offices for general problems. Back in March.

People in canada can only see a doctor if in serious need of medical attention and equipment. If not, you don't even get into the front door. There is no testing for the sake of confirming your diagnosis.

So every officially recorded case in Canada is the most serious situation.

They aren't testing/recording the sick people they tell to "stay home and self quarantine if you feel sick. Do not goto the hospital.".

Not beaten, just out of sight / out of mind while keeping free medicare cheap.

This is off topic but as a Canadian I have to address the inaccuracy in your statements

1) Anyone and everyone can get tested in Canada if they believe they may have COVID.
2) Our low rates is due to the country's rapid action on locking everything down and sticking to a process (i.e. regional re-opening based on COVID cases).
3) Canadians just naturally happen to be a lot smarter than Americans (i.e. we wear masks and practice physical distancing).

It's pretty easy to read these comments and tell where people are getting their information from. America has failed miserably in handling this pandemic.

In the US, hospitals are incentivized to record a death as a covid death to get a government grant. Our numbers are actually inflated. One case I saw was a guy who attempted suicide with a gsw to the head, was on life support, got covid in the hospital, then died. His death was recorded a covid death. Another case, guy liver cancer and was given 3 months to live, got covid in the hospital and died. Covid death. I also have a lot of family in vancouver and toronto and they cross the border for any treatment beyond minor ailments.

Not to mention, at least here in Los Angeles, we were actually on the right track before the riots. Business was coming back and the slow roll out was working. Of course, 2 weeks after the riots and magically covid makes a resurgence. Florida had been open nearly a month without a spike in cases. Of course, media attacked them when they opened then had nothing to say when there was no spike. Then the riots happened, and 2 weeks later the media were blaming the reopening . The bias doesn't even surprise me anymore.

Wrong.
33% of the country believes that drivel but we all know it was a certain failed casino owner! That got people riled up ( the clowns in Huntington Beach come to mind) thinking masks were “infringing on their rights” like the selfish narcissists they all are. Only one side is to blame for the rise in LA but nice try chief .

I haven't really got the argument people are giving for not wearing masks is "infringing on their rights."

We have the right to dine in restuarants, go to a movie at the movie theatre, take our kids to their favorite play place.

Those rights don't exist because COVID..the evidence is out that masks definitely slow the spread of COVID..start wearing a mask so we can get those rights back! At least some of them.

Wearing masks doesn't "infringe on our rights" it does the opposite.

I got a text from a friend yesterday that works in the ER at a hospital here in L.A. He said they are at full capacity with Covid patients crying in pain. Keep listening to the naysayers and you could end up being one of those patients.

What do you mean I have to limit myself to one drink in an hour, wear a seatbelt, and obey traffic signals when operating a motor vehicle?

Not to mention trump is introducing sports into politics by tweeting about Bubba Wallace, NASCAR's ratings and Kaepernick. At least the athletes don't have more important things to do.

Spot on. Nobody is at fault outside of China. I hate reading people's jaded takes because of their politics. I don't want to read theirs just like I'm sure they do not want to read mine. I am surprised this post has lasted so long without going sideways for the most part. Thanks to those who contributed (I will not list them because I do not want to forget anyone) in a BIG way with information which was not slighted in any direction. God Bless you all!

I'm not sure the WHO or the CDC would agree with that statement. But I guess one could consider them political as well.

I disagree 100%. Policies and people's action contribute to containing or spreading the virus. And in many cases, people's actions and policies have been driven by politics rather than health concerns. So, without question to me, politics have been a major factor in our response to covid-19, and some of the shortcomings in our response.

I was speaking to my doctor recently and he said, "A lot of people seem to think that the human race is destine to survive, but that's not necessarily the case." When I see how some people have reacted to covid, I wonder if the human race deserves to survive.

Please stay out of Canada, COVID is almost beaten here..

3) Canadians just naturally happen to be a lot smarter than Americans (i.e. we wear masks and practice physical distancing).

really?

1) sure you "can" but they "wont" if you show up and don't justify requiring emergency care. CLICK
The first few sentences have a lot to be inferred. And we goto the hospital 3 times a week for another member of the fams. "go home and self quarantine unless it's an emergency" were the literal words from numerous hospital staff i asked as my sis caught the flu. And had to catch them outside because no one is allowed into the hospital of course.

2) any true canadian would never think to use the words "rapid action" as a descriptor in any topic.

3) wrong, when i was there everyone had the flu.. no one wearing masks and the costco raids just started. Take a look; scared for TP but do you see any masks? people were scared to use masks due to reactions they woudl recieve.

it is not a matter of smart.
it is a matter of having selfish people who are not in the high risk group acting irresponsibly as a member of the community.
and also canada having lower population density that lends itself to social distancing.

Such a weird post, is Covid worthy of congratulations?
Also last I checked, Lakers are based in California.

Well Eddie your politics offend me, so we are even.

That's funny, I never stated what my politics were, just that as a semi intelligent person, I'm smart enough to not think Covid was planned by China, or that masks are an attempt to limit my freedom, or that the Current leadership, by being the current party in charge is in fact to blame (more than the states) for our world leading Covid cases.
Also, I'm originally from NY and have been privy to info non residents of the Tri- State area aint privy to: Only. one. Man. on. Earth. has. ever. Bankrupted. Casino's.
