He has always been a hugely talented player. His shot selection in the Denver era could definitely be questioned, but he has toned it down since then.
Don't try and damage his truck though! _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

He could definitely come in and give us a good 4-5 minute spurt. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

How does a guy with this much talent not get picked up as a free agent?
Not saying after one performance he is going to be the Lakers golden player. But he is clearly better a scrub and no one wanted to pick him up as a free agent all this time. |

Hopefully with such a short “season” we will never see the reasons he was not picked up. Inconsistent effort, jacking up wild shots and an occasional boneheaded play. He went 6 of 9 tonight. We don’t want to see the 3 of 9 failed heat check nights he is capable of having just as easily.
As long as he stays focused and plays hard for minimal mpg Smith can remain a valuable piece of the roster. Just hope he can keep his head in the game for 16 playoff wins. |

The bubble will actually be good for JR and Deion. Less distractions for them and chances of getting into trouble |

Well he played poorly before he was exiled from the Cavs. People probably thought he was declining. He wore his NBA finals blunder like a scarlet letter. Then you add the locker room issues he had in the past and people didn't want to give him a chance. Lakers even picked Dion over him who had gummy gate earlier in the season.
Sometimes risky moves can pay off. Not that a 1 year minimum deal is that risky, but people worry about the team chemistry. Dwight was about to be exiled from the league as well. Everyone doubted Melo including myself. Now he is contributing towards a playoff run. People think they know everything, but sometimes all you need is 1 chance to prove people wrong. |

I actually didn't think he would get minutes...but with both Bradley and Rondo out u have to believe he'll be getting minutes at SG...same with Waiters, who not only initiates the offense but actually creates for himself and others...I can see where both AC and Waiters could get most of the the PG minutes instead of Cook. |

“1 chance” ???
Judgements are usually based on multiple points over a period of time. Considering trends or patterns of behavior. If these guys were not so incredibly talented they would not be give the countless chances.
Don’t forget Smith created a controversy before he even stepped into the bubble. Continuing his “pattern” . If not for the league, Lakers organization and the players being willing to ignore racists comments he doesn’t even get that 1 more chance.
As I said above, I hope we never see the negative aspects of Smith’s game over such a short season. He hopefully stays in his honeymoon stage the entire time. Working hard and making shots in a limited role.
Prefer he doesn’t blow this opportunity too. Same as Waiters or even Howard. I only have to enjoy and remember the Championship not the cast of knuckleheads that the Lakers signed to get there. |

I for one thought JR was washed and his future was in the BIG 3 league.
Glad I was wrong on this one and he’s been a very nice surprise.
His three point shooting is going to be big time for us and really nice to see him make some playmaking and defensive plays.
That lob to Dwight and his recent statements on his extra attention to defense showed me he’s here to win |

JR's career path is similar to mcgee's.
McGee had plenty left in the tank but his reputation took a hit with shaquin a fool.
Jr had some left in the tank too, but ever since that finals mistake, no one wanted him _________________ Billions Billions Billions |

This bubble can be great form him. He can spend time working out. No outside distractions and plus Lebron and coaches can always have him on sight. He was always talented player. We all know that. I am sure he can contribute in some ways for us this playoff. Next season. Who knows where we will be. |

Dear Frank,
If you want to keep coaching the Lakers, please do not play JR _________________ |

People like Orlando Woolridge, Sam Perkins, Rony Turiaf, etc, are more deserving. But that's how life goes. Some have the luck. _________________ Smrek 2, Nevitt 1, Barkley 0 |

This is probably the end of the road for JR's career, I'm assuming. Great to see him go out with a second ring, happy for him _________________ #18 next... |
