He doesn’t handle aggressive double teams well which is a surprise because you would think he has been doubled his whole life. Doesn’t help that our spacing is horrible and our “shooters” brick everything or overpass.

Still don’t see near enough Lebron and AD pick and roll, maybe Vogel is saving it.

Did Toronto go with the "everyone beat us but AD" game plan? I know AD has to make some improvements on handling double teams though.

I think it’s this. Now that they’re in a bubble, and players can go to games and do some scouting, it’s best not to give them even more film. Save the pnr for the playoffs. My hope is that Vogel and the coaching staff have installed a devastating pnr with them two that we haven’t seen all season. The flashes we’ve seen have been promising.

I remember Bynum unable to handle double teams, then worked with Kareem and became good passer out of it

AD has no clue how to handle double/triple teams. he needs to work with Kareem/shaq to learn

Pack the paint and force AD to the 3 point line is something that Toronto does well.

There's two reasons I want Pau on the Lakers next year since he's been vocal about returning as a Laker for one last season to retire:

(1) Pau's a good dude, great vet, and can play the Dudley role off the bench: hardly play, but be a good motivator for the younger players on the team.

(2) He can help mentor AD in his weak areas: Passing off the post, managing double teams, using the left hand, and old school post moves.

Yep.
And the true DPOY can actually defend the perimeter as well as the interior.
People better vote right.

AD top of the key...wow that closer was beautiful. TBH I thought Vogel ran out of surprises to show me but that proved that they might be holding back a bit for the post-season.

Well, looks like he dominated tonight. Sad I missed the game. I'm not sure any team can beat us if he gets double digit FT attempts like this game and the Clippers game.

That and especially if our shooters can get even a somewhat solid shooting percentage from the perimeter there's not a single team in the NBA this season that can beat us imo.

We had a few more longgggg dry spells or else this very well could have been a blowout. It still always felt like the Lakers were going to win regardless though.

That step back 3 to seal the deal... Damn.

He's fully healthy and it's SCARY. Dude is killing on the offense and defending all 5 positions basically.

MONSTER.

LBJ just makes the game so much easier for him. He doesn't have to worry about setting the table and can just focus on buckets and defense. I felt like on the Pels, he was cast in a 1A role that he wasn't fully ready for or comfortable with.

Postgame he was talking to Rachel Nichols and he said something that was pretty important.

Paraphrasing, but it was that he needs to be more aggressive, that the coaches and teammates have been getting on him to be aggressive because the team needs it. Basically that yes it’s good that he makes the right basketball play and passes to the open man, but that for the Lakers to have a higher ceiling he needs to also go into attack mode like he did tonight.

I thought that was a pretty encouraging comment. Even if Toronto or another team schemes for him to get the ball out of his hands, he can still attack and produce like the top 5 player he is.

Is AD the closest thing to KG that we’ve seen? (Or is he better?...)

I fantasize about having prime Orlando Dwight next to AD defensively. That would have been the most ridiculous defensive duo ever.

We all fantasized about Kobe/KG.

Offensively, I have AD slightly ahead of KG. He can score now at every spot on the floor. Granted, during KG's peak, 3 point shooting bigs were not looked upon kindly. KG though was a much better playmaker than AD.

Defensively, I have KG ahead of AD.

Regardless, we have an amazing top 5 level player in AD, who is entering his prime. I really miss BI/Zo, but they will need some more time to mature into a championship ready core. With LBJ on board, the clock was ticking.

I guess he'll get the player-option for next year as the cap will decrease.

Yeah that may make sense. Then in 2022 sign his big deal. Right now no reason to sign a big extension on deflated salary cap.

Absolutely, I also heard Coach Vogel say something similar in his postgame interview. That AD was being unselfish and passing out of the double teams in the Toronto..which you want..but you also want him to be aggressive, which he started to do the second half of the Toronto game.
