Sometimes we forget why Rob Pelinka was so excited when we signed him, KCP is a quality player I could see him signing another contract with us. |

Yeah that’s another reason to Jim, once we signed a Klutch client it opened the path to LeBron. |

KCP seems to have found his groove. The team needs him playing at this level on a consistent basis. When he does, we win.
Stats tonight: 12pts (5-8 FG/2-4 3Pt) +22 |

Need him to keep shooting well.
Really like his drives to the rim on aggressive close outs. It opens up his game. He has always been good at cutting to the baskets.
KCP doing his thing so far... |

Man, for the second time this season the Internet has bullied KCP into playing well. He’s looked different in the bubble. Not sure if it’s the Bubble Barbershop, but he’s looking like he’s on his third tour of Afghanistan. There’s this no nonsense look in his face.
Anyways, he’s playing well. And you people make me sick. _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant |

He's still only 26 (declined a 70M offer from Detroit when the thought was he still had alot of untapped potenital).
We just need him to be consistent. Averaged 15/4 his 2nd season in Detroit and that was before he had a consistent J. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' If he can do this throughout the play-offs, it's a wrap! |

Pope will be an important key to us getting by the Rockets. We need some solid D from him, and for him to make open shots whenever they come. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

Played very well beyond game 1 in this past series (like a lot of our guys, haha). Need him to keep hitting shots going forward, him and DG are our most important C&S players. If they are hitting, we look a million bucks _________________ #18 next... |

Hi I am a super duper longtime lurker never registered this is my first post lots of gummies yessir plus the vapor ahh so warning it is long
Kentavious Caldwell Pope, here and elsewhere, is incredibly under appreciated by Lakers fans. People who either completely forget about him when they talk about our key players, or even worse claim that he was not worth as a player what he gets paid on these one year deals, or something about his agent, or something about idk what. They even go as far as giving another guy on the team his name kcp aka “the real pope.” And the contract stuff people say or write I don’t get it this guy actually turned down big long term money and is outperforming his current contract number AND he’s on a one year deal giving the team flexibility like wtf.
So far during these playoffs he is the best and most consistent three point shooter on our team while also being a primary or major defender for a bunch of all star and superstar guards. And he gives the team speed on both sides of the ball. His contributions are deep right now. And he has not even unlocked every aspect of his game at the moment.
When he’s totally in a rhythm, and unlocks his full skill set, like certain times during the mid and late pre pandemic season, he can still shoot the spot up 3 and defend and bring speed but he can also shoot or attack coming off of screens off or on the ball, curls, taking more handoffs and attacking the hoop or pulling up in the mid range jumper, and even playmake now and then coming off screens with the ball in his hands. There were stretches where he was scoring in the teens with consistency on this team and he’s done it before in Detroit too. And he proved on this team that he can do it as a starter or off the bench. But he never even sniffs third scorer discussions by fans cuz he’s too underrated.
He’s never been this deep in the playoffs, his game still has some room to come together and continue to improve, both on the skill set side and physical side but probably mostly on the mental side or just the integration of it as experienced veterans sometimes are able to do. After struggling through a slow start, nerves or whatever, he started playing a complete game for some pretty good stretches of the season. His challenge of course is to try to do that in a deep playoff run but of course that’s what this experience is for guys like Caldwell pope and Davis to some extent who are a bit younger and less experienced or have limited or more limited playoff experience when compared with the some other players especially older vets on the team. KCP is already playing a solid 3 D and speed fairly major minute starter role on this team and may yet have another step to take in his game on an increasingly larger stage.

Thanks for taking the time to write that up.
I think it's about time we give KCP the love that he deserves!
I think some may still be caught up about his initial contract.
But loving what he's doing for us. _________________ 💜💛 🏆 👀 🍖 #18!!! |

That is the surest best in sports. No team will pay him over 5 mil a season and Lakers aren't gonna jeopardize 2021 cap space for him. He'll be a series of 1+1s for 8-9 mil a year as long as AD is here. |

As for a past contract he had good for him cuz if it’s not long term security at least get a high amount for a year from the player perspective and from the team perspective I’m glad the lakers did that one year contract back then foreseeing the role he could potentially play/develop into down the road if they kept him in the fold at a lower rate later and got to this point which they did and they did and they did! |

He could opt out and resign for a small raise to 9-10M.
Thinking about it, a 10-15% raise isnt that small. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though." |

We take KCP for granted. All he does is defend the other team’s best guard, shoot well from 3, refuses to dribble (thankfully), and is the fastest player in a Lakers uniform.
Poor guy gives up 4 years/80 million to become “Mana From Heaven” and the internet still bullies him. _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant |

he has been playing better in these playoffs. Solid defense + 3pt shots...
with lrbon starting at PG i would make him a FT starter next year and get rid of Green |
