Gave up 5 first round picks, SGA and Gallo for a guy that made less FGs than that in Game 7, Kawhi and Pandemic P now with one year left on their contracts before they split, and Harrell is a FA who’s gonna command a lot of money. Doc Rivers likely ain’t gonna get fired despite his choking coaching history so Zubac will never get starting minutes like he should, and Lou Will is unplayable in the playoffs.
For a guy that will likely be touted as one of the best executives in NBA history, he sure pulled a stinker for the Clippers in his likely last front office job.
Sam Presti is looking like a god right now with all those picks from the Rockets and Clippers though. _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

I wont go that far, because in the Clippers brass mind it was all that to get PG13 to ensure KL signed. They wouldnt get one without the other.
With that said I'm good with LBJ and AD. If the Clippers had those two they would be in the WCF
And that, my friends, is a fact |

No trade assets to get Freak, maybe PG has an opt out so LAC can absorb a max salary? |

I think it is a bit on him for the fact they never got a real leader on that entire roster. A bunch of fake tough guys that scream when things are great and cry when they're bad. Then the two best players just sit in the corner by themselves and say nothing. It showed mightily at times this post season and is a drastic difference when looking at the Clippers and Lakers teams.
He still compiled a Contender regardless though so he's far from the person that deserves any heavy blame.
This talk about Giannis is funny though, he has nothing he can tell him over the phone? How tf are the Clippers going to get him? They have no great young players and pretty much no draft capital. Over half the league can offer much better packages without hardly even trying |

It's one thing not be overtly vocal, but it's another thing when you never say anything on the court and on the bench. Whenever the camera is on him, he never opens his mouth and always looks miserable. That has to have an impact on your teammates eventually. He managed to win a fluke title against an injured opponent as the best player on his team, but maybe this collapse will teach him to change the way he interacts with his team. You can't have great chemistry when the best player on the team never says anything and looks miserable.
I know this thread is about Jerry West, but he created this team with a non-leader leader. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

Wow. What a doo-doo thread. Jerry West isn't "likely to be touted as one of the best executives in NBA history"... He IS the GOAT EXECUTIVE IN NBA HISTORY (and it's not even close). Hell, he's arguably the GOAT All-Around NBA PERSON since he's had success in every realm (player, GM, coach).
Get out of here with your unchecked saltyness. We could've had West FOR LIFE had it not been for Dr Buss/Phil Jackson disrespecting him and pushing him out during his first stint, and then Magic's ego REFUSING to bring him back when he wanted to come back according to all accounts. What's Jerry supposed to do? Retire and wither away and die, just so that bitter Lakers fans like you wouldn't feel salty about him joining our cross-town rivals?
This failure is not on West IN THE LEAST BIT. Clippers have always been a joke/cursed organization. That's just the way it is for some teams, no matter who gets brought in to try to right the ship (see: Knicks). Regardless of what happened this season West got the Clippers the greatest player they've ever had in their entire history (Kawhi) and will have them contending for championships for the next half decade.
If his Clippers stint is the "low point" of his GM/Executive career than that speaks to his GOATness. Some of ya'll are just incredibly salty and think the entire universe revolves around the Lakers and that every person ever associated with them should act the same... |

Oh yeah, and at trying to prop up Sam Presti to disparage The Logo. The same GM who literally had a potential NBA Dynasty handed to him on a silver platter and he completely squandered it by letting Harden go.
Now imagine Jerry West in place of Sam Presti with KD, Westbrook, Harden in their early 20s, primed for a decade of being contenders... |

Jerry West is a consultant. He hasn’t run anything since he left Memphis. _________________ 824 |

Presti straight up robbed the Clippers. How on earth can you trade and give up more first round picks for PG than the Lakers did for AD when AD is the way better player? |

Clippers are going to have to spend $15+m on Marcus Morris and another $18-20m on Trez.
It will be interesting to see how they try to improve because it isn't clear what the team needs to take that next step. |

Theres only so much a front office can do. This one is on the Clipper players, they didn't show up for game 7. |

Clippers saw that trade as being for Kawhi and PG, not for PG alone. They didn't think Kawhi would sign unless they made the trade. |
