If we win the title, will Rondo be the only player to win a ship with the Lakers and them.

Would love to see Rondo hit another game winner on those green bastards if we make the Finals!

I think so. A backup center named Mel Counts won in Boston and came close to winning with us in 1969, 1970, and 1973 but he missed the year we did win in 1972.

True. Bill Sharman won as a player for the Celtics and a coach for the Lakers.

That's too bad about Rondo but tbh this is a series we can win without him for sure if necessary. We'll need his bbiq and ball handling against either team that comes out of the East much more since they'll be another level defensively then Denver is.

No more Rondo = Lonzo comparisons please.

They don't operate anywhere near the same level.

One is a future hall of famer. The other is ... Lonzo Ball.

I would have bet on Jordy at the time. Rajon had major red flags in his game. Credit to the Celtics, they always viewed Rondo highly....even though they also made a mistake in rating Telfair even higher than Rondo

Rondo's had a good career, but I doubt he'll be a Hall of Famer.

I don't know...he is ahead of Michael Jordan now in career playoff assists.

When the Lakers win the championship this year, I think he is 85% or better lock.

Actually Mel plays a very huge role in Lakers history. In the Suns expansion draft, they let Stumpy Goodrich go and kept Mel. Then in 1970 the Lakers traded Mel to get Stumpy back to pair with Jerry West. Of course Stumpy leaving after some hall of fame caliber years in LA is then what led to the compensation draft pick from Utah that led to Earvin Johnson. Mel Counts led to Gail Goodrich which led to Magic Johnson.

I disagree with you. He made four all-star teams, one all-NBA team, and led the league in assists three times. His career average is 10-5-8. That's good, but nothing spectacular. I don't think anyone here thought of him as a Hall of Famer before this season, and I don't see that winning another ring as a bench guy will boost him that much.

But it's possible. In the past few years, the Hall has let in a lot of marginal guys who had been eligible for a couple of decades, like Paul Westphal. I get the impression there is a lot of logrolling involved in the Hall, so if some of his buddies get the selection committee it could happen, though it might take 20 years after he retires.

As they say, we shall see.
