1985. I wasn't quite old enough to fully understand the magnitude and history of the rivalry, but I certainly felt the pain of losing in 1984. Getting revenge for that loss a year later remains tops. Plus it was title #1.

Then I would say 2010 because Lakers beat Celtics in a game 7 to win the title. I'm glad realignment and the revamp of playoff seeding has lost steam because certain matchups should only occur in the Finals. For Lakers Celtics to occur in any other round would be a travesty.

1972, #1 - The dearest one, having endured all the close calls for Jerry West until that point, has stayed the ultimate treasure for me all this time.

1980, #2 - The immediate, stunning impact of Magic Johnson's arrival is felt. Its ranking for me is tribute to the most extraordinary Laker ever.

1982, #3 - Showtime in its best form, ever. To this day, I've seen nothing more beautiful in Laker history than the free-flowing images of Wilkes, Coop and Stormin' Norman finishing the break for Magic. Weirdest part is how much greater they may have become, had Mitch's knee not blown out. Gawd, that team was the best.

1985, #4 - Beating the Celtics for the title was personally satisfying beyond imagination. I reckon it's hard to see it that way for any Laker fan who hadn't seen the club play in the sixties. Winning on that floor no less, wow.

The other championships follow behind those - for me - in no particular order.

I've seen all of them since 1972.

1980 was, without a doubt, the best. Magic's first, he played all 5 positions in the championship game, the start of showtime. Just the complete, outstanding uniqueness of Magic along with the strat was absolutely mind-blowing
The basketball world had never really seen anything like it

Although it’s not my #1 choice, I will say this about 2020

If you’ve always wished for a Defensive minded (shut-down-Defense type) Laker team, you appreciate this one. If you’ve wanted guys like Tayshaun Prince back in the day, wanted Marcus Banks, always looking out for a Trevor Ariza (or higher caliber version) type player and admired teams who had stacked defensive players from 1-4 (or 5) like the ‘08 Celtics or ‘04 Pistons.. then this is one of your favorite Laker teams.

My favorite of the 6 that I witnessed was 2009. I always loved Kobe and to see him prove he can do it without Shaq after the year earlier disappointment felt great. This one was pretty great too tho, we waited a decade after all

2010- Kobe getting revenge on the Celtics

2002- Horry for the win... Yes!

2009- Game 7 win over the Rockets

The rest of the championships were great, but not as special for various reasons.

2010 - The most intense Finals series I've endured as a fan. I wanted this one so bad. To be able to b-slap the Celts after what they did to us the previous year was oh so satisfying. I told everyone around me that I could die happy now after that game 7 win. it still holds true to this day.

!988 - My favorite memory as an LA sports fan. Gibby's homerun to propel the last Dodgers WS win. And Big Game James helping us clinch the first B2B NBA champions in decades. 1988 was it for me.

2020 - Kobe, Covid, the Bubble. To win a chip in the most f'ked up year in modern day history, is.......special. LA needed this. I will add that this is the best defensive Lakers team I ever witnessed. Not the Showtime Lakers, PJax Lakers, or anyone else, it is the Vogel (and huge props to AD) Lakers that is THE BEST DEFENSIVE TEAM I HAVE EVER WITNESSED. This tells me that this success can be sustained. AD just needs to hurry up and sign that dotted line.

2010 (Beating Boston after 08 must satisfying championship)
2009 (First Lakers championship I witnessed since I started watching them)
2020 (Special season with lots of circumstances as losing Kobe and the pandemic going on this year this title was worth it and much needed)

I've witnessed the last 10 championships. My order:

2020 - 17-17, 'nuff said

1985 - "This has removed the most odious sentence in the English language", Jerry Buss at the trophy presentation. The sentence was "The Lakers can never beat the Celtics in the finals".

1988 - first repeated champion in 19 years, after 3 exhausting 7-game series.

1987 - slapped the Celtics silly, especially how they dominated in 1986, someone from Usenet back then bragged that they would have won at least 3 in a row. Counting on Walton's health for a 3-peat?

2010 - screwed the Celtics. I especially like the FT discrepancies. The Lakers shot 21 FTs in the 4th quarter. I have no interest to beat them fair and square. I want to beat them by screwing them. This is the payback for McHale's clothesline on Rambis in 1984.

2002 - 3-peat

2001 - 15-1

1982 - Love that Game 1 in the finals, a 40-9 run in the 3rd quarter that turned a 68-83 deficit to a 108-92 lead. That's the epic performance of Showtime.

2000

2009

In my lifetime,

2010 - Game 7 at home against Boston. This also cemented Kobe's Legacy for me

2000 - 1st Shaq and Kobe Championship

2009 - Redemption season after tough loss in '08

2001 - Dominant 15-1 playoff run

2020 - LBJ delivered. AD's first ring. Crazy season.

2002 - Swept the Nets

I really enjoyed the Three-Peat Lakers. I was 10 when the dynasty started and I felt like the Lakers would never relinquish the trophy.

Mike

1972 is still mine, for the same reasons. 1985 because we finally beat the Celtics, and the first of the Threepeat, 2010 (hey, it's the Celtics again, plus I was there for Game 7), and finally this one.

No.1 - 2000 ( First one for Kobe and Shaq, not comparable to me with anything else)
No.2 - 2010 ( The toughest one since I am following Lakers)
No.3 - 2020 ( For everything what happened this year)
No.4 - 2030 ( Once its ours....just joking)

I didn't witnessed 80's so I cannot say anything about that part. Even though sky hook was one of the most memorable Lakers moments for sure.

Nothing will ever top 2010.

1. We beat the Celtics for the world championship
2. Not only did we beat the Celtics, we beat them in a Game 7 for the first time after all those heartbreaking Game 7 losses to them in ancient times
3. We came back from 13 down in the second half, making it one of the greatest chokes (maybe THE greatest) in Finals history for Boston
4. We beat Boston at its own game - ugly, low-scoring slow-it-down basketball - not exactly our preferred style of play
5. Kobe played like crap in the first half, but played really well for most of the second half, even offensively
6. By winning that chip, Kobe validated his first four
7. It was heartwarming to see Ron Artest go from a social pariah hoodrat to a good human being with a good heart and a world championship ring. One of the greatest sports redemption stories of our time.

This would be my top 3 as well. I started following the Lakers when I was 11 back in 1983. My Dad hated the Celtics with a passion...as I'm sure most diehard Lakers fans did back then. He told me all about how the Lakers could never beat them for the championship and wanted nothing more than to see the Lakers finally take them down. I remember him being devastated over the '84 loss to them but in '85 they finally did it. Even as a 12yr old I was just as excited about that series win as he was. '85 will always be #1 for me.

On paper, 2020 shouldn't crack the top 5 but after this year and the way it started (I still can't type or articulate the word but y'all know what I mean)...this championship was f'en needed. I'll NEVER forget this one given the circumstances surrounding it.

The top 3 are self- explanatory
1985- winning at The Gaaahden
1987- Babyskyhook!
2010- Kobe, Pau, Fish, LO and Ron in 7 over “Big Three”

1980- Magic and and Wilkes were incredible in Game 6
1988- Worthy’s game 7 one of the greatest performances ever

2001- smoking the Spurs as the underdogs and without HCA
2000- beating the jail blazers in 7
2002- beating Sac in Sac in game 7

2009- Kobe, Pau, and Co get over the hump
2020- Lebron and AD, plus help from Rondo & Dwight- amazing

That’s my top 10: we are so spoiled as Laker fans to have 11 in 40 years- as much as the rest of the West combined. Spurs-5, Ws-3, Houston-2, Mavs-1

championships teams are like babies I just cant have a favorite
Id say the last 3 peat one was probably my least memorable. Most memorable is a toss up between 2000,2009,2010.

2000 - first championship I was old enough to watch
2001 - the sheer dominance of sweeping through the West
2002 - being able to 3 peat
2009 - first one after the Shaq trade left this team is in disarray
2010 - beating the Celtics
2020 - winning after the longest stretch of futility, being able to win one for Mamba right away, entered the season and playoffs as underdogs
