If AD/LBJ only win 1 championship, was it worth it to trade the assets that we did to get AD/LBJ?

Doesn't matter to me. I just really wanted this one ring this year to honor Kobe and to stick it to the Clippers.

I think they can win more. I also think AD will stick around post LBJ too.

I hope, I just don't think Lebron has enough in his gas tank. This year was very draining for him.

Last offseason was one of the longest of his career and he got a four month break right before these playoffs.

AD is humble enough to learn from LBJ which is the key. AD will be the MAN when it's time.

I think there is great chemistry between the two. No egos. Both need each other.

LBJ will continue to be the playmaker, but AD will take over as the team's scorer. I expect LBJ to take a bit more of a backseat scoring wise and let AD increase his.

Sure. And at his age, God forbid, an injury would take longer for him to get over too.

But I think I'm going to stop doubting LBJ. I've done so many times in my life and ended up on the wrong side. I think he's found a way to pace himself and having AD here allows him to do so. I think we will also inject some fresh new blood in our title defense team too.

Hell yes, and it's not just because of a championship. It's because it makes us look like a stable franchise again. We were a ****ing clown show prior to Lebron. We couldn't even get meetings with okay players like Aldridge ffs.

Absolutely worth it. Winning the Championship was the entire reason to take the path they did. It worked, not much else to argue about.

Now the question becomes sustainability. Can they add enough "new " talent and still maintain remarkable roster chemistry and stifling defense? Can they remain healthy over a long season? Perhaps they benefit from another shortened season?

Maybe they can for next season if we are lucky. Maybe Davis will remain multiple years and maybe the FO finds the "next" superstar to pair with him after James retires or hits a wall. Going to be some anxious times the next couple seasons as we find out.

Worse case, we have this Championship memory to sustain us through the next rebuild.

Here, for me, is the simplest reason it was worth it: we still have LeBron James!
We're still going to be extremely competitive w/wo Davis .....he's staying, leave me alone!

Of course it was worth it.

Every move that is made is made with the hopes it will lead to a title.

The Lakers won a championship by trading BI, two role players and picks that will be at the bottom of the draft.

Rob absolutely crushed it.

Was never a fan of the all pick swaps/deferrals but it was still worth it.

We will have our 2020 & 2021 1st
NO gets 2022 1st
2023 pick swap option
2024 or 2025 1st (likely 2025, since LeBron will he likely retired)

Basically NO has control over our picks for the next 5 year window. 2022-2025

How much longer will this LeBron/AD window be? I see 3 more years. Will need to find 3rd star. Hopefully a diamond in the rough somewhere similar to Graham, Wood, Nunn etc etc

Most definitely worth it!

Even if Lebron fades into retirement in a couple years having AD on your squad is still high level basketball!!
Hoping they both retire as Lakers. 🤞🤞🤞

An not to sound like some spoiled entitled Lakers fan but you already know someone else is gonna come team up with AD for a chance to get a chip🙏🏀💪🏆💛💜💛

The Heat got a culture sure.
Ours is Championships 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

It is worth it. Keep these receipts, I know if things change in a few years and this thread gets bumped, there may be a completely different perspective from others.

Got to frame this as: we just went through a 10 year drought it was looking grim. LeBron got injured in his first year and time’s running out. People were injuring themselves all the way from Ventura trying to hitch a ride on the Clip bandwagon for heaven’s sake. There was no way out, it HAD TO BE DONE.

1000% worth it! Especially as I consider, for example, how many years (and players, and effort etc.) it has taken such a "storied" franchise like Boston to win one.

10,000% worth it if we think of our friends the Clippers, through numerous stars have never won even one (love it).

To win more as James ages, I think AD has to be even more dominant. MVP type dominance on both ends of court. This would be a repeat of the Magic-Kareem combo.

Winning championships is very hard. Even just a single championship should be greatly treasured. While BI and Lonzo have potential, there's really no telling if we could ever win a single championship with those two.

Bingo. Win when you can - you might not get the chance again.

Isn't a question for me - championships are damn hard to come by, we're very fortunate as a franchise to have 17 of them. Many franchises don't even have one

Even more worth it considering the doubt cast over our squad during the 2019 off-season

Totally worth it, a ring is a very difficult thing. Even the Heat of Lebron, Wade,Bosh, Allen took 2 rings and the second one almost stolen of the Spurs hands. You can create a great team and win nothing. Even just a final would
be enough but a ring?Come on, no questions, i just want to run in back just
to enjoy our team without the monkey on my back

So many talented players get to the Finals once when they are young, thinking they'll be back over and over only to never glimpse it again. We are blessed and spoiled to have so many championship memories due to this great organization.

How many times are people going to make threads pertaining to dudes who are long gone from the team. Hell 2 seasons from know when we’ve won 2 more championships there will probably still be someone bringing up Lonzo and the rest. Can’t we just let them RIP?

Hell yes. I'm a Dodgers fan as well and I'd trade a bunch of their young prospects/players for 1 freaking World Series championship. I was in the 11th grade last time they won.

Same here. Got to go for it all when there is still a chance to compete.

It is a little puzzling after winning a ring that anyone is thinking about Ingram. Ball and whoever else we traded (I don't even remember myself).
