Atlanta isn't dumb enough to spend a lot of money on KCP.

KCP will be back next year.

The team that traded Doncic away?

I remember them overpaying Kent Bazemore also.

If I learned anything this decade it's to NEVER underestimate the desperation of some teams during free agency/trade deadline

I think we keep KCP for sure as he's so important and nearly impossible to replace given our other needs and small amount of flexibility. We can and will go over the cap if necessary as we have no choice but to improve the roster if we want another real chance of getting a Championship next season considering there will be a lot of teams improved ready to take us out.

Any idea what contract they will give to KCP? He has Bird Rights, so they can give him big money on a short deal.

A few more items from Shams:

KCP and Rondo opting out. Both mutual interest in re-upping, KCP a possible Atlanta target.

Dwight with interest from Dubs. Mutual interest in returning to LA.

Kuz with several suitors if LA explores trade market.

KCP had a solid season and better than expected playoffs but he wasn’t spectacular. We better not over pay him to keep him. At most he’s worth a 2 year $24 million contract

As long as we don't give KCP a no trade clause I am ok with just about any number on a 2 year guaranteed deal.

I have a fear that whatever Klutch wants Klutch gets. Our interest are not perfectly aligned.

I think we should let him get his money and go.

Avery Bradley can play his role on a much cheaper deal.

No need to overpay for him and ruin our cap flexibility

Bradley is much smaller

KCP knocks down way more threes and therefore spaces the floor far more. 40+% from 3 in the playoffs

KCP more valuable

Trae Young is there too, he’s hanging out with KCP.

Imo getting KCP re-signed is key.

The 3 guard lineup with KCP, Schroder and Caruso would put a ton of pressure on the opponent with their speed and tenacity.

Klutch delivered AD and Harell in consecutive summers.
KCP is getting paid. Just about how many years. That’s probably Ron’s main issue.

Didn't KCP get horribly OVERPAID the last few seasons compared to the value he gave the Lakers?

Bradley signing with Miami because he "liked their culture" doesn't pass the smell test to me. What better culture can you have than the Lakers had, which led to a championship? AB checked out on the Lakers way early last year anyway.

Dwight was a model citizen last year and then flaked out under pressure in this year's negotiations and panicked. So much for "Purple and Gold never gets old"

I am of the Jerry West school -- if you don't want to be here, let us know.
I think Rob has already upgraded the roster with Schroeder, Wes Mathews who is a gamer, and Harrell who won't have to play center. If Rob adds a piece or two to fill out the roster I say good riddance to all of them.

AB got a guaranteed 2 year deal with Miami for more money. Lakers couldn’t offer him that. Wish him well.

Caruso quite frankly deserves the bump in playtime. He should be a 33-36 mpg guy this season. Let the starting lineups calling card be defense and then the bench unit focuses on scoring with trez/Schroeder/Kuz.

Actually, second year is a team option. It seems like Bradley just didn’t want to be on the Lakers anymore. Perhaps some residual feelings about not having been in the bubble.

Give KCP a 2 year/$24 million deal. Nice bonus from the $8.4 he would have made this year.
