I wonder if a team has ever gone from the best team in the league to the worst team in the league to one of the best teams again in the span of three seasons.

Closest to it is probably the 1996-1998 San Antonio Spurs.

Lakers - Warriors
Clippers - Denver
Miami - Bucks
Nets - Celtics
Pelicans - Mavs
Sixers - Raptors

IMO those are all the teams that will play and I think I got right some of the matchups

Intriguing match up and much better then playing the Clippers, a lot of star power

Curry/Klay/Green vs AD/LeBron

There has to be major injuries involved, not just tweaking the roster.

Yes I am still unsure how good the Warriors will be because Klay is returning from a major major injury that not all players return to normal after.

How are the Warriors a good team? I'd rather play the Bucks, Clippers, Mavs or Nuggets to ensure a competitive game on Christmas Day.

Steph-Klay-Wiggins-Draymond-#2+$17mil trade exception

that's a pretty gangsta starting line up

Klay has relied on skill over athleticism, though reduced lateral quickness could negatively affect his defense.

Klay hasn't played a game in how long so he's not gonna burn the net 2nd game in. They're without Iguodala which was a very important piece of their championship team. Lakers would be 2+ months removed from their last NBA Final game so they could still be in championship form playing a team with new/returning players tuning up. They may become a good team next July but not on Christmas Day. I just don't think it would be a good match.

Everybody just assumes that the Warriors are just gonna pick back up where they left off. This is a different NBA that Klay and Steph are coming back to. First off,

they lost KD, that alone makes them significantly worse.
both of their stars are coming off of injuries.
Lebron and AD are together on LA
so is Kahwi and PG
KD and Kyrie are in Brooklyn
The Nuggets are much better
The Heat are good.
Celtics, Jazz, Bucks etc.

The warriors are not the dominant team any more. They will be in the middle of the playoff hunt but, that's about it.

I view it as a hype game, to get viewers. People want to see how they will perform against the champs.

I don't think they will ever get back to those 70 game season days. The west is much better.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Klay lit it up tbh, he might be the greatest perimeter player of all time at being able to score large amounts of points consistently without the need to dribble much. He's one of the greatest shooters of all time and that is not going to disappear or not be true anymore after the injury. It will be interesting to see his mobility though, especially on the defensive end.

Also, I highly doubt the current roster is much like what we see on Christmas. They have a lot of ammo to improve and when you have Klay & Steph already it wont take much to put them right in the mix with those other teams. Then if Danny ends up getting traded there they have that angle to use as well for promotion.

Saying all that, i'd love to see them not make any real moves and us blow them out to an easy win on Christmas to make the day a bit more Merry but I have a feeling that wont be the case.

Well that changes things.

Sometimes that is what is hard coming back from major injury.

This should be a rout.
