He played good defense, but was insanely streaky during the regular season...some stretches, he looked amazing. Others, he looked really bad, and couldn't throw a pea in the ocean.

Wow, do we have different recollections of AB's play. I remember him ballin' like heck. My last memory of him is the steal vs. the clips beverly, taking it to the hoop for a layup, and getting a T for talking smack to beverly

Streaky? I thought he had a nice lonnnnnnggg streak.

Overall though he shot 36.4% which is pretty solid. His defense is elite. IMO, if he starts, and Dennis is his backup with Caruso getting the back 2 guard mins, we have a really nice guard rotation along with THT and hopefully someone like Matthews for some size.

I have no problems with how AB played. After the first couple weeks he settled in and was a dog . I would love to run it back with him.

Hate AB all you want for missing the bubble, but he’s the type of PG that fits the Laker's MO: a guard who defends and can shoot.

I agree. Plus, we could very easily be looking at another bubble situation for the next playoffs and we need all hands on deck.

He was awful early.

Her started to improve - and then he got hurt.

When he returned from injury he was streaky, but started pulling it together and was peaking when the season was suspended.

AB brings a lot to the table, but there's a reason he's been on 4 teams in the past 3 seasons. Avery misses a lot of games and goes through terrible slumps.

I'd like to have him on the team, but he is replaceable.

I guess there's still a chance that he could re-sign.

Some of you are in denial. This is a massive loss. Our 3rd best player in the regular season, and so damn important to our defensive presence.

We did fine in the playoffs without him and just signed a guard who is much better

We don't "need" AB. Lakers already proved that, but if he leaves, its still a huge loss regardless especially when one considers that the other teams are going to come back stronger next season too. Best defender on the team and depth matters. Hope he comes back. If not, he won't be likely replaced by anyone as impactful.

Maybe we don't "need" him, but we do need depth, especially since it's almost inevitable that at least one of our guys will get the coronavirus and not be able to play for a few weeks.

If Bradley actually wants to be a Laker and is willing to take the risk of playing before a vaccine comes out, I'd love to have him back.

Isn't Bradley going to be sitting out the season? He didn't want to play in the bubble.

Lakers could lose their four main Guards from last year:

Green, Rondo, KCP and AB

And while Schroder may be better than all of them, there is no way in heck, that Caruso and THT make up the slack.

I do have faith in Rob, getting the right pieces back in place, but as it sits today-right now, it's worrisome to say the least...!

A massive loss for the regular season because we didn't need him Post Season. Also, AB was fragile. It almost seemed like he was hurt every other week.

Got his qualifying offer. RFA.

He fits the AB role.

Yeah, that's what I figured since he said it was due to his kid's health. But now he's looking for a long term deal? What changed?

I don't think he freebied a ring. Life just happened. Don't blame him for worrying about his kid visavis the rona. Under normal circumstances, he would've played out the season. Plethora of lugs in the past have won titles while doing less than AB did in just a partial RS. Celestand won a ring eg, which he sold. Mbenga, same. Did a bit more than JC.

Vaccine is almost ready and we know athletes will be some of the first to have it, more information is available, bubble was a success... in hindsight he'd probably would have went to the bubble but it is easy to say this now.

I wish him luck, I will miss him but I'd rather have the money he wants elsewhere.

I mean, there's a reason these guys sign the 1+1 deals. It gives them the freedom to explore FA if they think there will be a market, and it gives them security in the event that something bad happens (e.g. they get hurt). It's not as simple as saying 'we should have made it a team option' because a player and his agent probably aren't agreeing to that in a situation like this.
