Even if the Lakers offered slightly more than the Clippers, Rondo will choose the larger role. KCP/Caruso/Schroder plus one vet min/BAE signing in the backcourt will probably eat all the minutes, even if Cook is waived.

But we can offer him Load Management Regular Season and unleash him in the Playoffs to enlarge his legend

It’s not about role
With Vogel, and AD.
Rondo knows his value to the team and role.

It’s all about respect and money.
I think Rondo can play with Schroder as if the latter played with Paul/SGA, for sure he can play off Rondo. RR can get his 15-20 min, and coast, pick his spots.

It all comes down to money. As almost always with free agent role players. With Lakers waiving Cook (which I am sad about) and Bradley opting out, I sense they definitely will at least try to re-sign Rondo. No one on this team got the ball better to AD than Rondo. No one on the team knows how to make a post entry pass like Rondo. I definitely want him back. Especially now that we have a young point guard that is score first.

Speaking of that, Rondo has been leading a different team almost every year on deeper runs than they were expected to go on. He could do so again on a new team with a budding superstar. The Hawks aren't likely to get a better player for $6 million or so.

Would love to be wrong, but Rajon may suspect the Lakers to close tight games with Schroder, KCP/AC, and Kieff/Kuz/(possible wing defender?) with the two stars.

Can't envision Schroder sitting at the end of games, unless it's for defense. And even though he has been score first recently, DS averaged at least 6.2 assists his last two years as a Hawk.

The Lakers should prioritize getting Rondo a portion of the MLE only if there are plans to trade DS at the deadline.

Basically extending Rondo on a 5m+ deal will mean we can't use our full MLE. With Dennis in tow, I really do not see why we should do so. There are already questions about whether even Dennis will close out games instead of KCP/Caruso, why add another high paid veteran to sit out games with Rondo?

I think Dennis makes Rondo replaceable.

Crap. Atl just signed Dunn. That means Rondo is headed for LAC

They used the exception, they still have 25M in the cap to use.

They have 26M in space still apparently.

Rondo is a 15 min guy in the RS. 25 in the playoffs. I think Atlanta would sign him to help Dunn and Trey improve IQ and direction and lead the bench unit. I do not think they sign him to be a big minute player.

But yes, I'd hate to see Rondo on the Clips. He would be giving them every part of Vogel's playbook.

Coaching. Rondo can play the Quinn Cook mins, he’s more important for his player coaching role, just like Dudz was more important for locker room role.

I hope you are right. But they also just guaranteed Brandon Goodwin's contract. How many PGs would they need? And this Not counting Mays if you consider him a PG.

Lakers might lose 5 Guards (from last year) this off-season..

And have only replaced two spots, sure Caruso and THT may be ready for more minutes, but still, this is no way to put the best foot forward to REPEAT...

Giving Rondo more money to keep him away from the Clippers would be a great idea ...ROB!

We had too many guards last year That's why AB went missing and we didn't miss him.

Definitely need to at least sign KCP though imo

Thanks Rondo. Sounds more like a pit stop but hopefully you can nurture Trae and if you ever need a home, we can always use your brain for the playoff.

He didn’t go to the clippers. All that mattered. He definitely got paid. Can’t hate on him for that.

Wonder what the word around the league is with the clippers bad locker room. It’s like rats jumping off the ship and no one wants to sign there.

Trae Young is Klutch no? 😱

Rondo is mentoring a future Laker.

P.S. thanks for not signing across the hall

Rondo, you are a legend. You brought balance to the force 17 for both green and purple... you stand alone, yet you have completed so many circles. Come back to coach... your mind is an archive of basketball Jedi mastery. Go get em in ATL. Resurrect that franchise like you have so many others.
