You had a bad one. A really bad one.

You were expecting an out-of-body experience? The problem is you need to develop a palette for chicken-fried steak at an early age. Then it's like Kraft Mac n Cheese. You know it's not that good, but it will always remind you of how happy you were to go out to eat as a kid, right before you were dragged kicking and screaming out to the car because you wouldn't stop blowing bubbles with a straw into your chocolate milk.

I doubt a transcendent one exists, but I have definitely had a few that were several notches above just being something to cram in your facehole. Of course, none of those were in California.

Best Chicken Fried Steak I've had was in Memphis - and was cheap. Took 6 grown men to breakfast, didn't spend $60 (including tip) and we were all so full we skipped lunch.

A whole week without any posts and we still haven't hit Page 2. It's like someone was trying to sabotage and undermine this thread, but it was too powerful to bring down.

Are you talking the "new" normal. Cuz if you are, then yes. It's like the "new" Coke. Something about it you don't like, but you can't quite put your finger on what, exactly, that thing is.

However, I forgot to mention when it happened, but apparently the new normal is Indiana having a better FB team than Michigan.

New coke? Can you still snort it?

If you don't mind tiny shards of glass mixed with rat feces, sure.

Funny, during this pandemic, I have found myself using less drugs, but drinking way more bourbon.

Is that why this thread isn't consistently at the top of page 1 every single (bleep) day. No excuses.

No, that's because of all the meth.

This reminds me of an old Mad magazine parody (set to the tune of Petula Clarke's 1960s hit "Downtown"):
If you like meat, but don't like what you're eating,
You can bet you've got
Ground Round
It's so unnerving when they're constantly serving
In an eating spot
Ground Round.
They may call it a cube steak, Salisbury or beef patty
No matter what it's called it's always overcooked and fatty
What can you do? Sound off to your waiter there
And loudly pound on the table, and stand up in your chair, and shout
Ground Round, piled on my plate I see
Ground Round, always you're conning me
Ground Round, why must it always be
Ground Round.

I've snorted worse.
