I know the AD trade last offseason brought us a player better than anybody we're getting this offseason.
But I actually think Rob gets a higher grade now than a year ago. A perfect offseason last year would've been the AD trade AND signing a max player. A perfect offseason this year is pretty much what he's done so far. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

The other thing that's so boss about these acquisitions is that every single one of them were plucked from our competition, which makes those teams weaker.
OKC is weaker, Toronto is weaker, the Clippers are weaker, and the Bucks are weaker. It's like Pelinka just collected a bunch of Infinity Stones. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. Lebron chose the Lakers when no other star would and look at what Rob has built around him.
Lebron/KCP/Wes/Davis/Gasol
Schroder/Caruso/Kuzma/Kieff/Harrell
On paper that has to be arguably the deepest Laker team in franchise history up there with the '87 Lakers. Great job Rob, just give this man Executive of the Year already. _________________ If Brandon Knight were to come out, I would take him number 1 in the draft. - Magic Johnson Mar 27, 2011

ALL HAIL KING ROB!!
The Mamba was right about him being a stone cold killer negotiator.
All these moves w/ Deng's deadweight salary still on the books, imagine if the NBA took that ish off the books Rob would field an All-Star team.

I mean, even the diehard haters can't complain about this offseason. The team got better, that can't be disputed. More offensive weapons than last year. I think of all the games that Lebron and Davis had to carry the burden of the scoring. It was taxing on Lebron.
Now, we have Schroder, Harrell and Gasol who can't actually hit shots. The floor spacing should be crazy. I mean, for teams out there, pick your poison. I feel Davis and Lebron are going to eat up teams. |

Jeanie Buss insight to how the office was run during those down years and why she fired his brother is a great insight of the past failures. (link below)

Really enjoyed that DLaker.
Thank you for posting.
I strongly urge any Jeanie Buss critics (and I was hard on her myself during the tank era) listen to this interview.
She is a class act like her father. |
That was hands down the best she's been in front of the mic. You could feel the sense of vindication. Glad she didn't hold back. |
Just great that her decision has lead to a very successful results. |

In term of depth, I would put this team above the 87, 08 and 09 teams and tied with the 98 team. |

Rob definitely deserves credit
Starters:
Dennis Shroder
Wesley Matthews
LeBron James
Anthony Davis
Marc Gasol
Bench:
Alex Caruso
Talen Horton-Tucker
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Kyle Kuzma
Montrezl Harrell
And now Markieff Morris vet and locker room presence on top of it.
I'd say that's a championship roster, and a pretty darn great bench. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

I have a feeling that what he did this offseason, especially the Harrell/Clippers move, will be the stuff of legend. I can tell y'all I have not stopped smiling since yesterday. |

If you look back even further than just this and last offseason, what he has done since coming here is pretty remarkable.
People were so down on him when he started moving the young guys to clear out those awful contracts we were saddled with. Then it was overpaying for AD. Then being suckered by Kawhi and throwing a ragtag of players together with huge a combustibility factor.
But now? Dude's won a ring and turned that ragtag roster into the deepest and most talented roster we've seen in a long time. He stayed the course (as Kobe always says), kept his head down, tuned out the noise and hate, and while it was completely quiet, he went full Kobe and owned everyone this summer. |
