IFTOS - NEVER RULE OUT LAKERS GAME SUDDEN RECOVERY SYNDROME

Per Trudell

Jamal Murray (ankle) is a game-time decision for Denver. Mike Malone said they’ll see how he feels in pregame warmups.

Will Barton is out for the Nuggets, and Michael Porter, Jr. seems the most likely to see his minutes ramped up.

MORE ON AD

Note this was at halftime

Per Trudell

Frank Vogel said he spoke to AD tonight at halftime, and that his spirits were good. Davis felt like he tweaked and re-aggravated what he had last week. They’re hopeful it’s nothing serious, and will await the MRI tomorrow.

POSTGAME AD NEWS

Per Oram

A Lakers spokesperson says Anthony Davis will undergo an MRI in Minneapolis rather than fly home to have it done in Los Angeles.

AD PRESSER

Per Buha

AD says he was feeling good heading into tonight’s game before aggravating the injury on his drive against Jokic.

“It’s a part of the game, it’s more so frustrating that I’m not able to go out there and play,” AD said. “... I don’t want to mess around with this type of injury.”

https://twitter.com/jovanbuha/status/1361194022576951296?s=21

Per Goon

Anthony Davis said today was the first day that his Achilles felt "completely fine" in the morning, and he thought he was making great progress.

https://twitter.com/kylegoon/status/1361193778237763585?s=21

Davis said he'll looking into upping his treatment from three times a day to five if it means that he can come back.

https://twitter.com/kylegoon/status/1361194421845336072?s=21

Anthony Davis said he's dealt with the injury bug his whole career, and he felt his last few seasons in New Orleans and last year with the Lakers he felt that he had overcome it. But he says this is different in his mind because it's his Achilles and he wants to be careful.

https://twitter.com/kylegoon/status/1361195136508563459?s=21

Per Trudell

Anthony Davis sounds optimistic about the Achilles strain big picture wise, and initial exams didn’t reveal anything that would cause him real concern, he said, but they’ll do the MRI tomorrow to take a closer look: “Just try and figure out the best steps after [the MRI])."

https://twitter.com/lakersreporter/status/1361194776209498112?s=21

I am not seeing a tweet about it but he is also mentioned that he is wearing lifts inside his shoes and some type of a brace to keep his Achilles in a certain position that should help alleviate pressure from the Achilles.

ONE DOCTOR’S POV

This was posted in AD’s thread and even though the doctor obviously has not personally examined AD it’s a good explanation of what may be going on.

Good video

EDIT -

I looked to see if the doctor I normally follow has said anything yet and he hasn’t he’s waiting to do his video after the MRI. But I just noticed this tweet from him last night that he saying the same thing.

Per (Dr.) Brar

Training staff would have very good inclination of rupture based on hands-on Thompson test. They’ve been general with the diagnosis thus far (saying “tendinosis” when AD said tendon isn’t involved) so wait and see. My guess is reaggravation of tenosynovitis (sheath inflammation)

https://twitter.com/3cbperformance/status/1361182405378281472?s=21

Alright I’m off to work now but here’s to getting good news about this later today... 🙏🏾🙏🏾

AD UPDATE 2/15/21, 1:50p

Per Woj

Anthony Davis will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks after suffering a calf strain, source tells ESPN.

https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1361433026815811586?s=21

Davis underwent an MRI today, which revealed a re-aggrevation near his Achilles. Lakers and Davis will be conservative on a return to play, which could be sometime after the All-Star Break running March 5 to 10, source tells ESPN.

AD CONSERVATION CORPS

Conservative would be nice

Per Woj

Even prior to MRI today, conversation among GM Rob Pelinka, Anthony Davis and agent Rich Paul of @KlutchSports has been to take their time on AD's return to lineup, sources tell ESPN. They'll take another look in two-to-three weeks, yes, but "conservative" is the operative word.

NEEDED CLARIFICATION ON AD

It’s both

Per Woj

Anthony Davis' MRI revealed a calf strain and a re-aggravation of the right Achilles tendonosis, source said. Once Davis returns to Los Angeles, he'll immediately get another evaluation there. It is extremely unlikely Davis returns to lineup prior to ASG break ending March 10.

COVID WATCH, NBA ALL-STAR, AND OTHER ASSORTED TALES...

This was all posted yesterday but I figured no one here cared as we were awaiting info on AD.

Per Shams

Each player who participates in NBA All-Star Game and Competitions will be required to travel to Atlanta on March 6 via private transportation, depart following the Game. Daily testing required.

https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1361432049052229633

Four guests allowed per person for All-Star participants. Players and guests will be required to remain at hotel during trip except for activities at arena.

https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1361432115737481228

The NBA plans to hold the 3-point competition and Skills Challenge in pregame of the March 7 All-Star Game in Atlanta, and the Dunk Contest at halftime of game, sources tell
@TheAthletic

@Stadium
.

https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1361435915181301761

COVID-19 vaccinated individuals at All-Star -- per NBA health and safety -- are not required to undergo daily PCR testing following date of team’s last game before All-Star Game through the date that the individual is required to report back to his or her team.

https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1361437550469140481

Per Reynolds

NBA also tells teams that games after the All-Star break will resume March 10, one day earlier than originally planned, per memo obtained by AP.

https://twitter.com/ByTimReynolds/status/1361433700613947396?s=20

Some teams will resume March 11, others March 12, per memo. The schedule is expected in the coming days, source tells AP.

https://twitter.com/ByTimReynolds/status/1361433982743814149

Per Woj

Expect team with fewer All-Stars -- or no All-Stars -- to be among teams returning to play sooner on March 10, sources said. That way, some teams with All-Stars get more time away on the back end of the break.

https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1361434754835431425

Also in COVID watch news -

Per Woj

Added game, per NBA: Denver at Cleveland on Friday.

THINGS WE ALREADY KNEW - AD

Per Trudell et al

Frank Vogel on Anthony Davis: "It’s unlikely we bring him back before the break, but we’ll see."

Vogel said that Davis will be examined by the Lakers doctors when the team returns; they’ll be cautious with the injury, and he’ll be re-evaluated in a couple of weeks.
