Having Davis out, yes. Having Schroder, Gasol and Kuzma out, yes.

But at all strength, NO.

Why? Kawhi was out and even then they still almost pulled it out.

Clippers and Lakers both are clearly not pretenders. These two teams are going for Championship or bust and have dealt with injuries to there main superstars along with several key role players. If healthy, they both are extreme Contenders especially out of the West. Some need to stop judging entire seasons from a single game or even a week or two stretch of games especially with so much season to still play.

Yeah West still runs through both LA teams.

Don’t trust the Jazz or Nuggets. Suns aren’t ready yet.

Everyone else is not good enough imo. Mavs can’t depend on Porzingis so they will get shut down. Portland same song and dance...

About those Jazz:

Quote:
Jazz record in clutch games: 8-7

Jazz record in non-clutch games: 19-2

Well #1 west team just lost to #1 east team.

Clear contenders this year are still LAL, LAC, BKN, PHI. Likely won't change unless a moderate shake up happens via trade or buyout.

Like others have said - can’t trust Utsh can’t trust Philly. Can’t even trust Milwaukee.

These teams need to dominate the reg season and it’s expected after falling short year after year. This is what these teams do - it’s the same song and dance. Are any legit? Nobody knows until they win when it counts.

We got nothing to prove - just have to be healthy.

Clippers need to get over that hump in the playoffs. They are such an enigma because I really don’t know what happened to them last year and what to expect of them this year. As of now they are my team to beat in the West.

The main issue here is Brooklyn. It’s a massive problem. They are getting it together a lot sooner than I thought they would. Let’s see how KD fits into all of this but generally speaking he’s the easiest one to plug in of the 3.

Harden and Kyrie are playing a different brand of basketball right now. The cohesiveness and talent is just too much for anyone to compete with.

This season is like no other. I wouldn't put too much stock in regular season standings. Just get into the playoffs healthy. Good chance there will be very little homecourt advantage anyways so seeding may not be too important either.

What matters is health and championship pedigree. We have the latter, need the former.

Lakers, Clippers and Nets. The clear top tier.

Philly can join this tier if Embiid stays at MVP level and Simmons starts shooting.

Not so sure HC is not going to be an issue to contend with in the playoffs.

Likely not in the bubble means at the very least there will be travel conditions. Potentially fans in the arenas by May/June. Even restricted 5k or 10k crowds will bring a lot of energy to a home team.

And every team is hoping for getting to the playoffs healthy. Not just the Lakers. Playoffs usually come down to a couple favored teams not playing to their potential. (Last year- Philly and Clips for example)

Lakers rightfully in the discussion as a contender. But they still need to prove it all over again. That’s the beauty of sports competition. Can’t wait.

One of my bigger offseason worries was the Clippers getting playoff Rondo. My new worry is the Nets getting Drummond, and that looks even more likely to occur.

yeah, something tells me vogel relied on rondo as an unofficial assistant coach. vogel seems a little less sharp this season, no?

I wonder if the NBA is going to level the playing field about fans.

Say you are a #1 seed but are in a state that won't permit large gatherings.

Then you are up against an 8th seed that does allow large gatherings. How is that fair for the #1 seed?

The Bubble was the ultimate equalizer. I think the level of play in the Bubble was at the highest it's been for a while due to that.

Clippers lost to the Wizards. Minus George.

They lost 3 straight now, 1 loss with their complete squad v Bucks, lost to Celtics w/o KL, and tonight's loss.

Interesting. Lakers almost beat Wizards minus AD and DS

You see...all the chicken little Laker fans can relax. Clippers and Bucks at full strength and losing names left and right.
Lakers missing various members, but still not losing a lot of ground.
Lakers will be fine.

Phoenix up 20 over the warriors with 9 min to go in the second Q, oh well

The Race in the West is really tight right now. Only about 3-4 games separate Lakers from the 8th-9th seed. Besides the Clippers, most of those teams has played fewer games than us. They have some games left to make up.

Need to come out strong after ASB and go on some type of win streak. April-May we have a brutal schedule.

One thing to keep an eye on. Of all the teams out there, there seems to be only one who can find ways to be competitive and/or win with average or sub-par 3 shooting:

Your World Champion Los Angeles Angeles Lakers (or as Chick would say, "this is your World Champion Los Angeles Lakers basketball network.")

Clippers 3 goes south, they suck. Same with Jazz, etc, etc.

Yep, this has been ABSOLUTELY a trend this year.

In the games the Slippers won, they hit 15+ 3s.

If they are at 12 or lower, usually they lose.

Unfortunately, we haven't been great at guarding the 3pt line though...
