Trez’s passing is actually decent. He is actually sneaky good from top of the key finding guys on back door cut, etc.

The perplexing thing with Trez is how he is a poor defensive rebounder, especially when he is elite on the offensive rebounding end.

Facilitating from the nail and from the post is totally different.

I think the thing with Trez is in the post he is so focused on beating his man. He doesn’t particularly look to pass. It’s back down or face up and try to score

It’s basically:

1) drive to the basket
2) drive to the basket
3) drive to the basket
4) pull up for midrange
22) pass it out of post

Which is amazing if you think about it. Teams already know what he likes and what his options are yet he is still very efficient at it.

Exactly what a team needs coming off the bench. Relentless effort. That's why he's "Sixth Man of TheYear."

No doubt. He is truly elite at what he’s good at.

Just need him to be serviceable on defense and snatch a few more defensive rebounds.

Im curious how the gasol-trezz tandem would work off the bench. First I acknowledge that we’re not yet sure if vogel will pair them up. For all we know, it will still be trezz-kief or trezz-kuz.

But if ever gasol and trezz are paired up, i think trezz can play off gasol effectively. For one, im imagining gasol would be perfect to throw the entry pass to trezz during his post ups. His height allows him to see trezz properly and not be bothered too much. Trezz can also move well without the ball and create passing angles which marc will definitely take advantage. Lastly, Gasol can hopefully cover trezz defensive mistakes and cover the defensive boards while trezz takes care of the offensive side.

Zubac isn't the shooter that Gasol is but they barely played together with the Clippers last time (Harrell/Zubac). They only were paired for 7 minutes all season, across 5 different games.

They actually played very well in those limited minutes though with an offensive rating of 140, and a defensive rating of 100. So a +40. But they didn't feel comfortable enough to play them together for more than 7 minutes all season. By the numbers there though that is promising that maybe Gasol and Harrell could make it work. Gasol obviously is a better shooter and passer, where Zubac is a better slasher and post up guy. On paper at least Gasol would seem to be a better fit for Trez's game.

Im worried about perimeter defense honestly, mostly how we would rotate and closeout to shooters. Trezz isnt exactly a world beater in terms closing out and a slow-footed gasol might make it easy for teams to take advantage of.

I have the same concerns. To be honest when I looked that up, especially when it was on like page 5 of the Clippers minutes I was expecting them to be a huge negative together. So them being a big positive was surprising and encouraging. But it's also a small sample size.

It’s comforting on some way, marc is definitely a better complement to trezz than zu. Also we are a deep team, we dont need stick with the pairing if it doesnt work.

FYI:

Montrezl Harrell has averaged 20.7 points on 65% shooting in his past seven games.

https://www.silverscreenandroll.com/2021/4/1/22362504/lakers-frank-vogel-wants-marc-gasol-montrezl-harrell-to-play-together

“It’s a lineup that I think can work,” Vogel said during his pregame media availability on Wednesday. “We haven’t really had a need to go to that up to this point in the season, but it’s definitely something we’re going to look at... the way it (would) work is, offensively, Marc is basically the 4 with Trezz being the 5 and, defensively, Marc’s the 5 and Trezz is the 4. It’s something that I’m actually excited to see.”

He should have use it against the Bucks then, when will he try using it? In the playoffs? c'mon

He had 10 boards and was aggressive. We really didn't need his scoring punch tonight because everyone else contributed their share. Plus Gasol played well.

Well, that's a relief, thought he too is dealing with an injury or something as he was way more passive than we've ever seen him.

Trez should’ve body slammed all 3 refs and gotten his ejections worth.

At first, I hated seeing Trez ejected. But you can really see the spark that it lit under the team.

Great teammate for standing up for Dennis.

With all the injuries, trade talk, and poor peformance this season, really glad to see Trez stick up for his pg like that. This team needed it. Might just be the spark we need to help give us a boost til AD and Bron return

Love this quote. Trezz is certainly a 'bleed for the jersey' kind of guy
