He was being too aggressive on shot creating. All he was doing was shoot in his freshmen year. He will make it to the NBA if his shooting is back

On his nickname:

Quote:
During my redshirt year, one of the graduate assistants came up to me one day and said: “I figured it out.” I asked him what he was talking about. He said it was my nickname. “Hillbilly Kobe. HBK.” [Laughs] One of my other teammates heard him and it just progressed from there. I said, well, whatever you want to call me, man!

It was cool, though, because my favorite player was Kobe Bryant. I vividly remember watching the final game of his career. It was late at night and my mom was in bed and I was jumping up and down and just yelling. She runs in the room and asks me if I’m okay. She thought something was wrong. But yeah, I’m cool with the nickname. It’s pretty funny and it’s got some meaning behind it. Like, I’m from the middle of nowhere and I grew up on a farm.

Check out this pass. Keep in mind, he's a right-hander!

the key was the difference in his 3p shooting from witchita state to okla.

first 2 years was catch and shoot at ~45%

last 2 years was primary playmaker at 30% having to do much more shooting on the move.

That Nick name is hilarious. He's good. Can't wait to see how he does against elite talent.

he was the most efficient combo G finisher in the draft

also, his first 2 years at Wichita St. he had a crazy 1.7ppp on catch and shoot, was basically the most efficient c&s player in CBB. lol. shooting upside is def there

How do you turn down the ability to get drafted? I assume he didn't work out for teams, but that doesn't guarantee anything.

it happens often with players in the 50s - there's talk between teams and agents, and the agents relay not to draft their player.. the player then gets to choose where he wants to play instead of being drafted by Minnesota or something

Going to be interesting to see if he and/ or Ayayi can contribute this year.

For the draft gurus... what kind of expectations can realistically be put on Reaves (or Ayayi) this season?

Any chance they could be role players off the bench? Perhaps in the second half of the season? I'm expecting a couple vet mins Gs to be added, but how do these rookies compare?

Any relation to "Big Country" Reaves? Dude was one of maybe two or three guys who consistently gave Shaq problems back in the day.

I remember Bryant "Big Country" Reeves from OSU when they played the Bruins in '95. Too bad he had to retire with back issues. Not likely to be related, even the name is spelled differently.

I think he has more potential. Dragic is more of a straight line driver. Takes off when he sees an angle. He doesn't have much horizontal herky jerky moves, which Austin seems to have. Austin looks comfortable creating both left and right. Dragic is a bit weak with his off-hand. If THT and Austin become players... wow. Can't wait for this summer league.
