If we don't get to the NBA Finals, and if Lebron misses multiple games due to injuries, for the 3rd straight season, then this should be Lebron's last year as a Laker.

Why would he retire? Because the Lakers are not trading him.

The narrative has always been he will play until he passes Cap as career points leader and play with his son. Neither is happening in just a season.

He has a sweet gig. He gets to essentially run the team, constantly talk about load management and how best to preserve his longevity but rarely gets any of the criticisms for his role when things go wrong.

Plus he gets to bring in a $40 m a year paycheck and has the freedom to pursue all the extracurricular activities in LA he chooses.

James is not going anywhere.

In what world is Lebron not heavily criticized for literally everything he does?

Interesting that you chose to focus on that part of my comment.

We all have our biases. We all see the games through those spectrums. Most tend to focus on the incredible highlight reel dunk or block. I tend to see the times he gives up points on the other by poor defensive effort the next play.

We see, praise or criticize what we want.

There are times when I really wonder about you. Based on what this FO has shown so far, they will have a plan, minutes in advance. Okay, maybe not minutes in advance, but for sure within a few hours after the fact. Seriously. They've just churned the roster every year and have run down lots of rabbit trails.

They have planned their stars years in advance.

If you think they just got the idea to sign Bron minutes in advance, please. Or trade for AD. These are all moves they wanted to make and knew they could realistically make year or so before they actually went down.

Changing role players on the go, yes. Stars? The star? No. They had their vision on Bron from 2017 summer. There was a lot of talk, and why do you think Rob even got KCP? Everything was done with reason - a goal. To get in good graces with Bron. You may hate the way they do things. But they know how to get stars to come to LA.

Not only klutch, BTW. Westbrook asked Washington to specifically trade him to LA. Otherwise he was going back to Washington (insert the I wish Westbrook never asked puns). If there's anything we've seen is that this group will deliver the stars to the Lakers. We may not always like the stars they deliver, but the teams will be competitive and have stars. That's the way Jeanie thinks her dad it and that's how she will run it, IMO.

Wow. The plan worked great with Paul George and Kawhi, didn’t it? You’re taking Lebron’s recruiting efforts and casting them as a master plan by the front office.

Heck, a good portion don't like that the Lakers had Lebron, and wanted him dealt for Ben Simmons in 2019. A good portion, also didn't want AD for all we gave up to the Pels (who have been lotto 2 straight seasons, and are 1-9 right now I think).

Odds are we will have a plan to get another star to replace Bron. However the odds are very high that a large portion of the fans will hate the move.

What this FO has shown is that they have no plan. We were a team of playmakers, then a defensive team (they hit on that one), then back to more playmakers and now the greatest fast break team in the league despite being the oldest team in the league.
