If he cant step up then let him go. We got enough perimeter players so he wont be missed. If he can get to his usual self he can be useful

Always thought he is much better suited off the bench.

Let him on the bench, Bradley looks better as a starter and lets give THT more minutes. We also have Nunn and Reaves coming back.

Yeah he was struggling. Not a starter in the league anymore. Appreciate the defensive effort to start the season, but when we get Bron, Ariza back. With THT. We need to start playing our better lineups with potent scorers.

And at the 2, we have enough options.

Not only let him on the bench...but he can potentially be cut...If we keep Bradley (which we should) that would cost us $7 million in taxes...only way around that is cutting a player....and the way it's playing out it'll probably be Baze...unless you guys think DJ should be cut.

Id cut DAJ if we sign another center, not like this. If we have to cut someone, yes, Bazemore should be it

Bazemore finally got back on the floor after a long hiatus on the pine. He brought great effort and intensity tonight.
Baze was balling out until Vogel sat him in the second half. IMO he should have been used a little more.
Baze is fighting to keep his spot on the roster.

STATS: 13 points (13 minutes)(4-7FG / 3-4 Treys), 2 rebounds, +6

I'm also not sure why Vogel didn't give him any second half run. He played very well in the first half and he provides you with more spacing than some of the guys he had out there.

From starting to unplayable, and now looks like he’s not as bad as everyone thought. Maybe there’s a middle ground for this guy?

Same goes for the other "can play on occasion guards" : Bazemore, Bradley, THT, Ellington

Lack of consistency is the issue with most Laker players. Unlike other teams, the Laker players can give you one good game, and then stink it up for the next 5. Fans get happy, and then they get reality. Back and forth.

In theory, he seems to be a better fit in the wing rotation than Bradley (who is shorter) and THT (who can’t shoot). Would like to see him get another crack at it. A Reaves/Johnson/Baze wing rotation maybe the best option on this crappy roster.
Oh yeah, then there is Monk who should get minutes at a wing or point of attack.

Who was guarding Ish Smith when he went 7 for 7 in his first 7 atempts?

The strongest reason to fire Vogel is that he seems to have completely erratic decision making when it comes to his rotations. He starts Baze to start the season. While Bazemore wasn't hitting shots, he was playing hard on D and he's the closest thing we have to a wing defender. All of a sudden, he's completely out of the rotation. DJ starts, and then for good reason is completely out of the rotation also. You'd think in for of Dwight but then just last night out of nowhere DJ gets the start and Dwight is DNP. - CD.

I mean, how tf do you expect to get any sort of consistent play and string together wins when guys are in then out then back in the rotation with little no ability to gain chemistry. Chemistry is everything in this game and Vogel's knee jerk reactions are killing any potential momentum.

Yet one more problem with having way too many guards (which will get worse when Nunn finally plays). Vogel's strat is to put players on the shelf for very long stretches of the calendar (i.e. Baze, Ellington) to give more consistent time to other guards (i.e. THT, Monk). Of course Westbrook continues to get around 30m a game.

If only Pelinka/Jeannie/Kurt/Linda/Lebron/Rich/Chaz signed more large, defensive forwards instead of acquiring a lot more guards than Vogel can even use. We'd be far better at defending opponents (especially in the paint) and grabbing rebounds.

Nice article on Baze. Seems like he's a positive force behind the scenes...

(Might be behind a pay wall. I'm a LATimes subscriber I don't know if this is one of the free articles or not.)

With the way he played last season... Warriors eventually would have waived him. Specially with the emergence of Poole and Payton Jr.
