This team is only 1 game above .500. For a team that was projected to be near the top of the conference, even with injuries we are supposed to have depth yet we have a couple of terrible losses.

We’re currently 7th in the West (6-4 in our last 10) despite missing our best player for 2 weeks, having missed key bench players like THT, Nunn, Ariza since the beginning of the season and incorporating a player like Westbrook into the fold.

They just had a gift of a opening schedule with like 90% home games and they ended it one game over .500.

I would say we had the easiest opening schedule in the nba. We faced maybe 2-3 teams worth anything and barely played any road games. We had two "stars" in AD and Westbrook healthy and playing.

We are a bad team that is going to get exposed even more when our road games start piling up.

We have a ton of injuries right now so I think too early to say. Lebron out, Reeves out, Nunn hasn’t played all season, Ariza out and we just now got back THT. Just too many dudes out that’s like 4-5 rotation players.

That said we should still be able to win games with AD and Russ. That is on Vogel.

Yep. We need to get healthy, stay healthy, and get everyone integrated and playing together. SRS (point differential adjusted for strength of schedule) has us 24th in the league. RAPTOR projects us at 36-46 with a 26% chance of making the playoffs. These are just snapshots of where we are right now. We should improve as time goes by and as we get healthier. But our margin for error is getting smaller. If Lebron or Davis misses a few weeks, the situation could get dire.

And on the remaining franchise salary players who are still on the floor, AD and Russ. Somewhere along the line they need to play like franchise cornerstones and lead by example. Not tolerate standing around and not executing plays, settling for low percentage shots or getting lost on defense.

I think this Laker squad will make the playoffs, likely near bottom of the bracket. But they have a lot to figure out if they wish to win any post season games.

About the home game schedule, I feel it is better for the day-to-day injuries, but I always thought road games are what help build up chemistry and home games help with X and Os. We could really use another training camp tbh.

I do still think we'll end up lifting the Larry O'Brien, but I tend to be optimistic.

These postgame pressers, players and coaches are saying different things which is a sign that they aren’t on the same page.

Russ says one thing.
AD says another.
Vogel makes dumbfounded excuses.

It feels like the team doesn't genuinely believe they have a chance at the championship this year.

Which explains the lack of effort, players and coach not on the same page etc..

Embarrassing beyond belief

It's just a huge waste of another rare opportunity at winning number 18 because Lebron and AD are balling out this year. They just needed a "decent" group of role players and the team is championship ready but this front office couldn't even put together a decent roster.

But LeBron and AD are the ones signing off on the group of role players. That much is obvious.

Heck they do the recruiting too, since that’s the non-tampering way.

If we want to blame the Lakers FO, I would blame them for being cheap with the likes of AC and Lue.

Love naysayers with Steven A saying that Lebron will not win another ring and that AD is not one of the NBA’s top 5 players

Not having Lue as the HC is not a big deal

Not keeping AC was an interesting decision “probably” based on the Lakers’ real cost of his contract and weighing it against getting the shooters they were targeting

The lack of D (note: Buddy Hield is not a very defender and can’t lead the 2nd team) and not having the fight/focus to not beat themselves is of concern

For a team that was projected to be at the top of the conference before the season, this team is now 8-9 and below .500. This team has underperformed against some very bad teams this season, meanwhile the Golden State Warriors have taken the league by storm and will probably upset a lot of predictions.

Maybe I should be the GM. I would even save Jeanie some money by not taking a salary other than a season ticket.
