Malik Monk is the best 2 guard we’ve had since Kobe. We should do anything we can to extend him when we can. _________________ "You gotta take it like a fan"
Brought it up in the Monk thread. Lakers will need to find a way to get him to take the MMLE, or unload WB's conttact for lesser contracts so they can have the full MLE. They need to keep him. 23 years old. He will get better under Vogel's defensive system and he's thriving playing off Lebron.
I also like the longterm potential of Reaves/Monk as a smaller wing combo. Reaves has to keep getting better physically and Monk has to get a little more strength. But they have legit role player starting potential. Nice KCP/Green type of replacements. Whatever Rob does, don't move these guys.

Last year he had a string of 3 games where he shot 14-27 from 3. Game 4? Went 0-7.
Im not sure what my take is on that other than maybe he is what he is? Jury still out for me. _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. He truly has no idea that he’s not as good as he thinks." - Killer_Z

It's why Monk was available to the Lakers and why the wins against crappy teams are fools gold. The question for THT, Monk and WB is do they matter at all during the playoffs? **Spoiler** they probably don't. I really like MM and think THT is going to get better but the fact is none of the 3 I mentioned can do the little things that allow you to beat good disciplined opponents. In fact, because of how he plays, Austin Reeves (and formally Caruso) are better options for winning with AD/Bron than any of these 3 players.
Nunn is a known playoff quantity so hopeful there, but unless he is fully healthy and/or gets to play over THT and WB it won't help. Lakers also are going to have to do some other roster adjusting where Melo/Bron are never playing center, or they are not going to get past the first round (assuming they make it in at all).
I really question whether or not the team is truly committed to making a run at the championship this year or is just happy running out the clock on LBJ.

Even Steph has his 1-8 games, there are reasons that shooting 3’s in the high 30% is good. It isn’t an easy or consistent shot. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
