Who was the best PG on this list when they were on the Lakers?

Fisher actually amplifies the greatness of that era.

To be that mediocre and win so many titles.

No wonder Stern had to nuke CP3 to Lakers.

"when they were on the Lakers?"

Westbrook, followed by D'Angelo Russell and then Kendall Marshall.

Fisher had the most success.

Ya'll might laugh at the Kendall Marshall mention, but as a Laker and as a point guard he was solid for us. That 15 game strtech he had for us as a starter where he averaged 11 points, 11 assists a game on 45% from three on 4.5 attempts a game was a special moment That and the fact he was 2nd in the NBA in assists at 8.8 a game that season with us on just 2.8 Turnovers a game.

Honorable Mention: Ramon Sessions before he injured his shoulder.

I loved Fish. He's kinda like Caruso. Played hard and smart with good defense. He was like the dedicated charge taker.

Sadly, even Kendall Marshall would probably be better for us than Westbrook right now. And I forgot to mention Rondo.

Will never forget the Thunder Game

We should have never let him go. Then he went to Milwaukee and tore his ACL and they let him go WHILE he was injured Pure point guard like him would do well in a league like it is today. But alas.

There's no question it's D-Fish, he's won Three Championships with the Lakers and there's a reason for that!

Fish by far the best leader. The only leader, really. Now you know why some of us argued so much for him. There's just something about PGs and the Lakers. They don't fit here.

After Magic, We're a team that has usually a superstar wing and superstar big. That is the set up that works. The PG is basically a spot up 3 point guy, who is more a PG leader with intanigbles and defense. KCP for example was our PG defensively in the title run, at times. As was Caruso. As was Bradley (before Covid break).

So basically what I'm saying is the last 6 NBA titles the Lakers have won.

Fisher was on 5 of them, and the a starter on 4. Harper was a starter on 1. And the other starter was basically KCP.

Meanwhile we've had all these other PGs who are otherwise great elsewhere but didn't fit in here.

Gary Payton
Westbrook
Dennis Schroder
Sessions
Lin

Etc.

Even the year Lonzo was here with Lebron, didn't work as well as KCP with Lebron. Just like Fish worked much better than Payton with Kobe. Just weird.

lol Ramon Sessions.

I remember his first game he made a quick cut to the basket for a layup and the Staples crowd erupted because Fisher was infamous for being slow and a bad finisher at the basket.

Fast forward to the 2012 playoffs and Fisher and his new team OKC whooped our ass.

That team was really old and desperately needed some youth and quickness. It’s why people really missed Ariza. And the team needed someone with some quickness that could take it to the rim.

Unfortunately Sessions was like another version of Smush Parker and gave the team nothing in the playoffs.

Part of it was Phil Jackson. Phil called Fisher a natural in the triangle offense, and I thought there was talk that Payton wasn’t a good fit in that offense. Payton was old and not used to being the 3rd or 4th best player on his team.

Looking at this thread has me wondering how Russell Westbrook would do playing with Kobe and Shaq (instead of Fisher).

Obviously the answer is D-Fish and it's not even close.

Little bulldog was a winner, not only with the Lakers, but everywhere he played.

Well the three point shot wouldn't be prevalent at that time, so he'd be taking less threes and going to the basket more where he's more efficient.

So Westbrook in his prime with Shaq and Kobe? He'd probably do pretty well.

Sad that a scrub like Fisher is easily considered better than a player getting paid 44 million.

While it's sad myself and most others consider Fisher better (more complimentary) than RW, he was no scrub.
