...Rockets center Yao Ming offered his own, typically generous, scouting report.

"He is very close to a player who is in the NBA like I would say Amare Stoudemire," Yao said. "Yi is taller. He is almost seven-foot. He has a very nice touch, very athletic. He has everything (to be) a great player...

Probably over the top but I watched part of the CBA finals first game and Yi has hops and looks 7 foot. Has a jumper too.

Draftexpress has him going #8. Profile: http://www.draftexpress.com/viewprofile.php?p=44

Looks like a 4 in the middle of the lottery that we could TRY to move up to get.

I don't see any comparison to Stoudemire from that highlight reel. He seems like more of a Dirk/KG/Bosh type. I've seen him play a couple time before and haven't really been impressed, but those highlights show he's got good skills and is fluid for his size.

Yi dunks therefore Yao compares him to Amare.

I sure as hell hope Yao doesn't have any plans for a future in scouting.

I haven't seen much of him other than a few videos. he seems to move pretty well for a guy his size. he's got pretty decent moves and ball handling also.

he's just pumping up his countryman, he's not going to compare him to pau gasol and he probably thinks saying garnett is setting too high of an expectation.

A more athletic paul gasol = KG.

He reminds me of KG...I was expecting more Bargiani or Nowitzki, but he actually has more of an inside game than those two.

Yi Jianlin is definatley more like Pau Gasol, but then again the Suns will have a lottery pick and could possibly select Yi Jianlin who would then in turn play alongside Amare...has Yao predicted the future?

His skills and size is similar to KG, but his play is more along the lines of gasol.

ok so the prognostication is that he plays with the bal like a poor mans KG which is indeed an athletic Pau Gasol.

Tell me, who does he play defense like? if he plays d as well as KG or Amare, why in the hell is this dude not going number 3?

Gasol. He's soft. Part of the reason why I'm not high on the kid.
