I'm fine with the LO/George lineup once in a while, but that would force kobe to guard the 1's. Thats fine for short periods of time but not the whole season. I prefer Smush to defend the point guards and play shooting guard on offense so that kobe can play SF. LO then switches to sf on defense, kobe to 2 guard...

After just two games, I think Smush has been the best fit.

I say put Mckie out there 1&4 quarters, swapping in DG. The best defensively and overall understanding.
Mckie brings smarts and defense ability
DG brings Tri experience and his pogostick around the glass

PostPosted: Fri Oct 14, 2005 8:02 am    Post subject: smush may start

After Smush Parker started the Lakers' first game Tuesday, Aaron McKie started Wednesday. Parker has the inside track for the job, as Jackson would rather have McKie's steadiness coming off the bench - although McKie figures to play about 28 minutes per game, regardless.

McKie said it doesn't matter to him whether he starts.

McKie wore No.8 for Philadelphia in recent seasons, but No.8 is Bryant's with the Lakers. So McKie is wearing No.2 - Derek Fisher's for his noteworthy eight-year Lakers tenure.

Fisher, now with Golden State, noticed McKie wearing No.2 in the teams' exhibition opener Tuesday. Recalling his surprise at the sight, Fisher made a face and said his first thought was: "That doesn't even look right."

LakersRGolden, you got it. Phil should know who he's going to play by the end of preseason, and after that you play for real based on matchups. Even a "new Phil" won't be thrilled with giving guys like Sasha big minutes to gain experience, he's going to have a guy for each situation and roll with what comes along. I know he mentioned the thing about maybe Odom at PF in the 2nd and 4th quarters (or something to that effect). I don't think he really means that literally, but I guess you never know. Basically I'm saying that in both cases, he won't platoon guys for equal minutes for the sake of platooning, he's going to play the guy that gives them what they need at that specific moment.

I have League Pass (Yes!!), but could not see anything but the Spurs*

But, from what I am reading on this board, I think Smush is our man, but McKie should start. Smush has a chance to stick on this roster for years to come. Once his contract is up, he should be a "cheap" re-sign. I love hearing about his defense and can not wait until LA comes to SBC Center (about 50 miles from my house ) and beats them.

McKie = 25-30 mpg and starts

Smush= at least 15-20 mpg - starts on the 2nd of back-to-back games

LO = the other minutes left at PG and as matchups dictate

Based on two preseason games, with experimental line ups???
I'll stick with experience and a steady hand, i.e. McKie, until something works consistently better.
