Did you know about the Lakers’ humbling trip to the airport after being blown out in Game 6 of the 2008 Finals? I didn’t until I read this:
The Los Angeles’ title hopes had disappeared with one last embarrassing loss in the NBA Finals, leaving those on board the team’s bus to sit in stunned silence. As the bus started to leave the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston on that night two years ago, chaos quickly broke out around the Lakers. Boston Celtics fans had filled the streets to celebrate the franchise’s 17th championship, not far from a statue of longtime patriarch Red Auerbach smoking a victory cigar.
With traffic snarled and no police escort to take them to their hotel, the Lakers could do nothing but sit and stew. Before long, someone recognized Phil Jackson sitting in the front seat, and then the rocks began to fly. Revelers pelted the bus and shook it, mocking the Lakers at their lowest moment.
“It was painful,” Lakers forward Pau Gasol said. “It is a feeling that I want to keep in my mind for every single minute that I’m out there playing them.”

Well I guess we can thank for giving some added motivation on top of the blowout loss. |

Yeah. Lakers will never forget it. Celtic Fans in Boston have no class or dignity. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Wow. If they lose after having that happen then they might as well just go play in the WNBA. I got the Lakers in 6 but I definitely want to see them win in Boston and not LA now. |

It was pretty much well known and discussed at the time.
I certainly remember it.
Hopefully the guys do as well. Not that they need that motivation. What happened on the floor prior to that should be motivation enough. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

We can thank them by being the second team to win a championship in Boston. _________________ *sighs*

I think the problem was that Boston fans are so thick, it's hard for even a bus to make it's way through. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Who are we kidding though?
If that happened here with some of our ghetto-a$$ fans, those wouldn't have been rocks, they'd be bullets and kerosene filled flaming glass bottles. _________________ "The best there is. The best there was. The best there ever will be.", said Bret Hart regarding the Los Angeles Lakers. |

I want them to win it in Boston for a few more reasons.
-Pierce pouring the gatorade all of over Doc
-Pierce twittering that lakers/magic was like a poodle/german shepard. And that rotweiler celtics would be back next year
-Ray Allen saying "another win in LA" at the espys. I remember Fishers face after Ray said that. (bleep).
Just everything, really. Losing by 40 the final game.
What I want to do. . .is have us come back from 24 on them. Or, a sweep with every game going to OT.
When it all comes down to it. I don't care how many games it goes. I don't care who gets Finals MVP. I don't care who gets injured. I know we must hoist that trophy at their expense or I will be (bleep) pissed off about it for literally the rest of my life. |

yesterday i read that lamar is worried how khloe will handle being in boston for the games. he said the fans were brutal to his kids in the past. i think it's a bad idea... i hope she stays in l.a. i know she wants to be there for lamar, but those fans will be horrible to her. they're classless. |

Except for their attitudes regarding their home basketball teams, Boston and Los Angeles have many things in common. They are fairly liberal, progressive, modern, tolerant, etc. Our hate for the Celtics shouldn't automatically lead us to hate the entire town of Boston. I feel the same about Portland. It's one of the greatest cities in the country. They have pathetic basketball fans, but that doesn't tell the whole story.
I rather live in Massachusetts than in Oklahoma. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |
