Doesn't have 3-point range though. Which is required for proper spacing in the triangel
He doesn't have it yet, but Mitch said "Derrick may be able to shoot the ball a little bit better than Trevor when he came out" (2:45 on link above). His instincts in getting offensive boards means that shot or not, he needs to be accounted for. You can back off of him off the ball initially, but you better find him when a shot goes up.
The biggest panic for some fans is debatable, but there were plenty of people freaking out when the OKC series was 2-2. People crying that LA was missing Ariza, and now they have a young player who's game is similar. Great value, great pick.
hope that drill was an aberration for him, because that was ugly. an elbow jumper should be a 80-90 percent shot when wide open and in rhythm for a perimeter player.
I thought Trevor eventually developed one? Anyway, practice drills with Devin hopefully will enable him to develop an outside shot. The triangle will give him a lot of open looks. I like the fact that he's defensive minded. Groom him for that, make him learn how to handle the ball and develop his outside shooting, we might have this generation's Michael Cooper _________________ Pancho's Happy Bottom Riding Club

As long as he doesn't get a dumbass for an agent lol.
I'm really like what I'm reading about Ebanks, he could potentially be even better than Ariza. He supposedly had good shot selection and loves to play defense, that's a great backup to both Artest and Kobe! Once he starts developing that NBA 3 point shot...he's going to be a very good fit assuming he's able to do that.
Good IQ, very good mid-range, hits the offensive boards, very active on O finding the open areas to attack, inconsistent scorer, very long, tenacious defensively, very versatile on D (shut down Patrick Patterson, a PF, wig wiry strength and guile), decent handles.
Biggest knock I have on him would be his inconsistencies in looking for his own shot. A bit too passive offensively, but constantly works on O, especialy the O boards. He absolutely doesn't need the ball to effective on O. That combined with his D will earn him minutes this year.
I'm absolutely ecstatic that they drafted him. I had him going mid to late 1st. He's a steal.
Is the worst thing you can say about his game that he's a bit too passive offensively and a inconsistent scorer? because I'm liking it already!
Looks like a solid pick, only thing that has me worried are his stick legs , guy has some skinny ass legs . Guy seems as lanky as Durant, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Tayshaun Prince
i was thinkin prince as well.. just minus the shot.. and maybe a little more explosive.

So I guess he had Good D, athleticism, can play off the ball, and good shot selection. The 3 will develop in time. I really like the fact that he's also a good rebounder, something we might need if LO doesn't show up. I can't wait to see this guy play in the summer league.

I am actually liking this 2nd round pick. Energy guy, good length, loves to offensive rebound and defend on the perimeter. For an 11th through 13th guy, that's definitely a solid 2nd round pick. Hope he sticks.

Or maybe Jerry West who went to West Virginia gave the Lakers a heads up on the kid told Mitch pull that trigger dude has major potential.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but this kid played for the last two years on the same team as Jonnie West. That means Jerry has seen this kid play in person and on video A LOT. Jerry may even know the kid some already. Any real problems with this kid's attitude or work ethic and we would have known about it.
Maybe Chuck Person and Craig Hodges can work on his shot. Trevor worked all summer with Kobe and his shot improved significantly. If you have the confidence and put in the work you can see a difference. _________________ Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.
I'm quite surprised that Mitch didn't take Willie Warren. I don't know much about Ebanks, but from what I've read there are athletic, defensively inclined SFs you could probably pick up at the vet minimum. _________________ We are stardust

there are also undersized, turnover prone shooting guards who can't play point you could probably pick up off some playground somewhere.

Whatever... you don't get the point. Given the need at PG I thought we were more likely to draft a point guard. It's harder to find a PG with any kind of potential than an athletic SF with holes in his game.
I'm not jocking Willie Warren, and there were reasons to be cautious. Miami and Atlanta both need PGs and yet they didn't bother picking Warren either after the Lakers passed on him. _________________ We are stardust
