I think it will be. Lakers have the largest payroll in the NBA. Lakers have alot more players with playoff experience. Lakers have the best record WC 3 straight years and they are defending Champs. OKC has one of the lowest payrolls in the NBA. OKC is one of the youngest teams in the NBA and there strarting 5 have no playoff experience.

like it or not OKC is a formidable opponet... actually anyone in the west is purely capable of beating the lakers if they focus. OKC has a strong guard in westbrook and good defensive backcourt... my gameplan is put kobe on westbrook and artest on durant ....or vice versa... |

Bigger than Dallas vs. GS? Seriously? That was a barely 30 something win team taking down a 67 win team. |

GS was 42-40 that season. |

That's completely irrelevant, it was a "shouldnt even be a in the playoff" team taking one of the best regular season teams in history. Whether they were 32 wins or 42 wins it completely irrelevant, the other team had 67! 4th or 5th best regular season team in history of the game. |

this is the lakers we're talking about. The greatest NBA franchise and probably the most hated. They'll make it out to be the biggest upset if it happens. _________________ Thank you, Kobe. We love you. |

It was surprising to see them swept, but no one really expected much from the Heat that year. Wade was clearly still hampered from his injury a few months prior, the rest of the team struggled to get wins throughout the year (I don't think they even had HCA in that round).
I think that series would rank higher on the upset list if they managed to take down that Heat team with a healthy Wade. |

ya but if we do lose we it was because of the injuries that hampered kobe, bynum, brown, and pau throughout the whole year...
fisher just sucks right now so thats another handicap |

Why not? Certainly, like how Andrew Bynum is the next Wilt Chamberlain; Shannon Brown is the greatest athlete in history; Trevor Ariza is the best defender in history; etc. These types of threads are completely useless. Not to mention that Golden State - Dallas (8-1 upset) and New York - Miami* (8-1 upset) happened within the last ten years.
Asterisk indicates the lockout season (1999).

The Warriors barely made the playoffs that one year. Mavs won 67 that season.
Thunder can finish with a 50 win season. Lakers can get to 58 wins if they win their final 2 of the regular season without Kobe and Bynum.
Lakers are going in with a non 100% Kobe and Bynum. And Lakers have struggled mightily the 2nd half of the season.
Yes Lakers are defending champs, but they haven't played like it this season.
With everything thing that has gone on yes Lakers losing would be an upset but I wouldn't call it the biggest upset in NBA history. |

it doesnt matter how they have played. the lakers are the 1 seed, AND theyre the defending champs. an 8 seed has NEVER knocked out a defending champ before. that alone makes it the biggest nba upset of all time if it happens |

And yet this team still has the 1st seed overall in the West and 3rd best record in the league, much more than that Heat team.
I think injuries have a good chance of catching up to this team as well, but anything short of a WCF appearance is a rather large upset, whereas that Heat team, I don't think many were surprised at the fact that they lost the first round, but just how badly it ended up happening. |

Yes. But that is not the right mentality (for the players) to have. You're never "supposed to do" anything in this league. |

How can anyone say a 67 win Dallas, MVP led team, losing to a perennial loser like Golden State is not the biggest of all time in the NBA. That's a slam dunk. Seattle/OKC has been a winning franchise and OKC will not drop back into the hole like the Warriors.
btw-- We are injured. Anybody remember that or does it only count when a Celtics team is injured like last year.
The Dallas loss was roundly called the worst loss in major pro sports team history when debated at the time. Some hockey loss was the only other contender. |

No, a team with young stars like Durant, Westbrook and Green DQ this from being the biggest upset. |

It would be a disaster of epic proportions if the season ends early to the Thunder. Might be worse than the Finals massacre in Game 6. No easy way to recover from it and the front office will have to clean house.
With that said, Kobe will probably claim that winning the World Championship Gold in a few months for the USA will mean a lot more than the NBA Championship. |

Boston was the #3 seed and didn't have Garnett. |
