Barnes is making slightly more money with the Lakers than he made in Orlando last season even though he's playing a lesser role with the Lakers.

Orlando had him as a starter, while the Lakers are going to use him as a bench player. He figured that if the contenders want to pay him cheap, he's at least going to go to a contender that pays him appropriately for his contributions.

So, if you go by how much the Lakers are paying him plus the role he's expected to play, his salary is actually more fair than what Orlando was offering.

Bottomline is that the Lakers got a legiitimate starter coming off their bench because Orlando wanted to play Barnes like a chump during contract negotiations.

That sucks...however, I will say that even if we got Barnes, it's not likely that puts us at the same talent level as the Lakers. I have no delusions of beating the Lakers so if it's the Lakers getting better right now, I really don't care. Better to me than teams like Houston/OKC/Portland getting better. I'd rather fight for 2nd seed than fight for 8th seed. The NBA is now just LA.. and everyone else.

True words of wisdom.

Heat fans are such morons. All they think about is offense and how Bosh rebounds and starts fast breaks.

At first, I thought you said "Bosh rebounds and farts stat breaks."

I noticed that one earlier as well. I respect fans who live in reality.

strongest bench in the NBA belongs to the Suns. and I hate the Lakers too

Blake > Dragic
Vujacic <= Childress (vujacic has percentages, but childress has more ppg and rebounds while playing more than twice as many minutes as vujacic)
Barnes > Dudley
Odom >> Clark
Gasol >> Warrick

Dragic > Blake. (Blake is a terrible shooter. Dragic will kill him hands down)
Childress > Vujacic (I hate vujacic. He sucks)
Dudley > Barnes (Barnes is a shell of what he used to be. Can't shoot the ball as well as Dudley)
Odom > Amundson (Amundson gives energy but Odom is too good for him)
MBenga < Warrick (Gasol isn't really bench. MBenga....speaks for himself)

i don't even know how to respond to this level of ignorance. i mean, he even used mbenga and amundson in the comparison! and he's a suns fan! does he not know that amundson isn't on their team? so sad.

I thought Suns fans got their reality check by now. Guess not. They have 2x MVP though, can't blame them for being hopeful.

Celtics fans must be really hurtin right now. We got Blake, Ratliff, and now BARNES!!

Big-time upgrade to the roster.

Last I checked, my original post didn't have a quote in it. So I'm not sure what you are looking at.

LOL at the Heat fans. Are all of them really that un-educated? Their lack of BB knowledge is astounding. Chalk it up to lack of experience as a organzation. Experience makes you wise and we 16 times more wise..lol. I really find it amusing that they think becuase you throw 3 superstars on the court thats all it takes to win it all. If I look at the team from a completely un biased point of view I see some serious questions marks.. First and foremost a coach who has ZERO experience dealing with all those egos, coupled with the preasure of expectation, and Riley waiting to swoop in and take over. No one has seen how these guys will mesh together on the court, and they will deal with having to split touches, points and stats.. It easy to say they will make the sacrafice right now but as the season goes forward will they REALLY be able to handle that sacrafice and blow to their ego. I think not. All though a different situation at different points in the career, the shaq, kobe, malone, payton team comes to mind.. I dont count Miami out at all, but I certainly dont think they are going to steam roll their way to a ring. Lastly if heat fans think we are old and done and that we did not get significantly deeper this off season, go ahead.... under estimate us. Regardless of what they say, think or believe, any basketball fan with half a brain knows the championship starts and ends with LA. Until someone comes and knocks us off that pearch then we are and will remain CHAMPS!!

Wow. The Heat fans quoted here are forgetting the one thing that is the most important factor in winning a championship: DEFENSE. Our free agency signings not only improved our depth at PG, SG/SF and C, but improved our defense, which was key to beating the Celtics -- how can we forget Game 7 and our offensive struggles throughout the game?

Yes, the Heat signed (and re-signed in Wade's case) three big names. But did they improve their defense? Do they even have the chance to field a championship caliber defense? Wade, LeBron and Bosh have never impressed me as a great individual defenders. Heat fans are over optimistic.

bbbbbbbut Lebron James came in 2nd for defensive player of the year!!1

Yes, I think that will come up a lot as the season goes on. I imagine Jeff Van Gundy spouting major criticism . And outside of the three stooges, they don't really have any defensive stoppers at any position.
