I knew mihm personally, he never really had the heart for basketball he just played it because of his size. He loved swimming and that's what he always wanted to do, but his coaches and parents pushed him to basketball. Without the love for the game you are never going to be good at it.

He was serviceable his first year with us. I think he averaged 10 and 8 IIRC.

He was pretty good in those off years, all things considered. Imo he was a poor man's Bynum if he could stay healthy.

He was putting up decent number before his injuries. It's possible he would still be playing withe Lakers, if he wasn't injured and was willing to play as a third-string center.

04'-05'\05'-06 looks like his best career years, also first 2 years with the lakers. All downhill from there. I was however excited to see him healthy his final year with us, he was looking active and mobile. Pre- Mbenga punking him and him being shipped out. The altercation with congo and his swift departure are maybe a testament to djsaad1's point about not having the "heart" for Basketball?

Looking at his stats overall, not really impressive as a "starting center". So to answer your question, if he hadn't sprained his ankle: he'd be a 10/5 type 7 footer. Average to below average.

I remember vividly liking Mihm, he seemed like a real professional and iirc he seemed to be our second most consistent player after Kobe. He had a nice jump hook (right hand) and like previously mention could finish at the rim and help from the weak side. I would like to think that if had stayed healthy he would still be with the Lakers. As a solid backup who knows the system. He was never really 100% healthy. On the other side with all the injuries I thought the Lakers showed a lot of class sticking by him so long.

Chris was a talented big man, and when he was healthy provided the team some solid minutes in the post. He had a good attitude and was a hard worker, until that horrific ankle injury. Vitti said it was the worst ankle injury he had ever seen, the kind that Hospitals see after a serious car crash.

Chris Mihm was a serviceable big. I don't think he would ever have been an all-star, but a good solid rotational guy, capable of starting for most teams in the league. He showed a lot of improvement when Kareem was working with our bigs ... it seemed he'd never really had "bigman" instruction, and his post game began to really show signs of improvement.

He would show flashes of very good play ... he notched 18 double doubles in 03-04 - no small feat playing next to Lamar Odom - and some of those performances were pretty impressive: 23 pts 12 rbs 2 blk in the season opener against Denver, 25 pts 14 rbs 2 blk 12/12 against Orlando, 11 pts 21rbs 5 blks 12/22 against New Orleans, 17 pts 10 rbs 4 blk 1/5 against Dallas, 14 pts 17 rbs 2 blk 1/10 against Minny, 19 pts 15 rbs 4 blk 2/22 against Boston ...

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/mihmch01/gamelog/2005/

There is no denying the guy had talent. He needed to work on staying out of foul trouble - that was the biggest reason his production on the floor suffered from game to game. But he was starting to put it together, and then he went down with that devastating injury.

Chris Mihm was a definite player ... it's a shame his career ended the way it did.
