He's going to have to act at a very high level to surpass Steve Buscemi who plays Nucky Thompson, he was brilliant. I never knew he had that much talent. Whoever cast this show should be commended. There are no big name actors/actresses but all, so far, have been off the charts. Come Emmy's time this series will win many awards. |
I agree about the possible Emmys and great casting - I only wish Scorsese would direct the whole season.
Looks like Tim Van Patten [The Sopranos, Deadwood, The Wire, Ed, and The Pacific, and....Sex and the City ] is directing the next 2. |
Thanks for the heads up. I'm not versed on directors good or bad. Your letting me know about the change will cause me to watch a little more closely and possibly critique the direction. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I'm curious as to what Omar's (from the wire) role is in this series. _________________ I LOVE BASKETBALL! |

I'm a bit befuddle. How can you renew for a second season a show that's only aired one episode? How may do they already have in the can? _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

It is based on forecast. They pulled in 7 million viewers to the premiere episode and they're banking that it will remain popular throughout this season into next. |

Because it premiered so strongly and reviewed so well that they are confident in committing to a second season - and in this case I think that is a no-brainer.

Depends on each shows shooting schedule and how it corresponds to air dates. I would think a how of this scope is oprobably done with all shooting, and most likely even the majority of it's post production for season 1. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Sepinwall (t.v. critic) stated he's seen six episodes. So, at least six. |

Second season! Dope!
I hope Scorcese directs the finale and premieres, but doubt it. _________________ "Kobe Bryant is the best player in the world and is basically unstoppable when his game is on" - Barack Obama

Another brilliant series by HBO. Moonshine. A silent movie. Drunken Irish wife beating. Al Capone. Midget Boxing. Buscemi. This will be great for sure. It's the real Jersey Shore. _________________ http://chickhearn.ytmnd.com/

Second episode was a bust. No action, sex, violence, story line muddled. I was very disappointed. Maybe TPTB jumped to conclusions. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

The dude who plays Capone is from the UK or Ireland. Pretty darn good accent he does, considering he's not from here. The Luciano dude has that classic mob look. I think he would've been great as a player on the Sopranos. |

Yeah, remember Kelly MacDonald's Texas twang from "No Country for Old Men"?
It always amuses me how these Brit, Irish, Scot and Aussie actors can so easily adapt various American accents while American actors doing foreign accents sound so fake. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Did anyone but me think that when Jimmy asked his wife to do it "the french way", he was talking about the Kobe Hotel Special? |

No Kevin he was asking for Fellatio.
ocho, I like the show I was expecting the same level of sex and gore as episode one. I'll watch again tonight to evaluate the storyline. I'll lower my deviate expectations and watch for aesthetic value. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I thought it was a good episode in character development for the main stars - Nucky, Darmady, and Nelson.
I was confused with Darmady's showgirl, did he say that was his mom? if so, what a weird way to greet her.
I can't wait to see how the NY-Atlantic City drama plays out.

I thought it was strange how his mom straddled him and kissed him incessantly especially while she wasn't wearing much clothing. |
