I kind of thought it also meant killing in general. Both walkers and people.

I know what he meant but I'm not sure if the people working on the show realize how anti-climatic the walker attacks have become.

The flashback to when Eugene meets Abraham really justifies Abraham's actions, IMO. I mean he lost everything and didn't feel he had a reason to live. Then he's given hope that he can help save the world so he has a purpose and his entire reason for staying alive is based on a mission that is a lie. He gave up his peace/joining his family/whatever you wanna call it because Eugene is a selfish d-bag. I'd be pretty pissed too.

Yea... I feel you on this. I was on the fence about the character. But then this happens. I wonder what's going to happen with him now? He was so driven.

Seems like he might go the Rick "crazy/depressed" route after Lori died. I think they somehow get him to go back to the church and then when they realize Carol and Beth are being held hostage he finds a new mission which involves his favorite thing: killing.

big pet peeve seeing so many people use a small 4 inch knife as their main method of killing zombies by hand... makes no sense. Sure you would want to always have a knife on you but your main weapon should have more range to keep them out of biting distance

I'm actually surprised at this also. I understand they can't use the guns for any situation because they have to conserve ammo, and because the noise attracts more walkers, but nobody thought to put together a spear? Clearly they've learned to be resourceful over the years. Shouldn't be too hard to strap those knives onto the shaft of an old rake or something.

When you have to hit a specific spot (i.e. the brain), a spear isn't an effective weapon because a) its harder to aim due to its size and length and b) if you miss, it tends to get stuck, thereby leaving you defenseless to a second attack. B isn't such a problem with humans, because the assumption is that if you the target with a spear, wherever it hits, you have either fatally wounded the person or severely debilitated them. With a Zombie? It will keep on coming if you miss the brain.

I would agree that there are bigger knives one could use over a small 4" knife, but, at the same time, we're talking about a limited supply here. You don't want something to bulky, because you are going to have to carry it everywhere, and you want something that is durable (i.e. doesn't need to be sharpened all the time, is solid, has a good weight to it and doesn't break). Kitchen or carving knives don't fit the bill. A hunting knife (which seems to often be what is used) seems to be the most effective knife.

Rick's machete sure is useful though.

I'd actually rather have something like a hammer considering they need to break the skull. Then again, it seems like lots of zombie skulls are awfully fragile.

just a baseball bat would be much safer and effective than a tiny knife. Lightweight yet still enough force to smash through their decaying skulls that have been proven to be extremely soft

Yup. That'd be my weapon of choice. The only drawback to that or a machete or anything big vs a small knife is the amount of energy you have to use per kill. Even Tyrese with his hammer would tire out faster than the people using knives and swinging a bat takes a lot more energy than a hammer.

I guess I'd say have one bigger weapon like a bat, sword, machete and one smaller one like a hammer or knife. Along with a gun of course.

this would be great.. The Ninja sword would be ideal.. though..not a lot of those around..

Baseball bat would need to be aluminum for durability.

what bothers me more are the short sleeved shirts or tank tops.. really? why not keep all flesh covered with leather or thick Denim. I don't care how hot the south is..

Did nobody else suspect Eugene was a charlatan the entire time? I actually thought it would come out that Eugene and Abe were full of it together.

Kind of. But I really thought they would get about halfway there and Eugene would get bitten. Then it would be a race to get him to DC before he turned. (or something like that)

If you mishandle a lightsaber you're dead. This is why only Jedi Knights can use them. Layfolk can only patronize them in emergency non-combat situations such as cutting open a Tauntaun.

I think a good old crowbar would be good, pretty versatile and wouldn't have to worry about it getting too banged up.

LOL. I don't know if it's sad or awesome that more than probably 75% of us in this thread know exactly what you're talking about.

I'd worry about the curved end getting stuck in a walker's skull or something and having to pry it out. But seeing as how easily that water cannon destroyed those zombie heads, maybe that won't be an issue.

....aaaannnnddd I've devoted way too much time thinking about this.

Speaking of Mr Dwight K. Shrute, why haven't we seen any bears in this show since they've been in the woods so much? Are there any bears in GA? Is there that much woods in GA too?

Maggie was using a Mosin Nagant M44 w/folding bayonet in the last episode.
