26 year old perennial MVP candidate < 31 year old 0 time allstar. Wait, huh? Do you understand how the greater then, less then symbols work? Think of them as an alligator mouth wanting to gobble the larger number. Or in this case Melo. |
An NBA team is not a video game and there are more facets to the game than scoring. Others may just disagree with you about how Melo would fit on this team.
You understand disagreement? Think of it as another person utilizing their brain to form an opinion that is different than yours. |

Lamar and Ron are getting close to 16M the next few years, so if that were the deal it wouldn't be that far off from Melo's deal. |

How does this guy know melo? Or Lakers for that matter? It's a rumor until someone with a background of well known history reports the same. |

I don't think anyone would disagree with you. But is the return better then what's being given? |

I could live with this 9-man rotation. |
Thank God your not the Lakers GM. |
LOL. Well, the rumor is Odom and picks, so yes, I think Mitch could do better. I was tossing Artest in there to round out the team cuz I'm not sure how he'd handle coming off the bench. Birdman gives you back the height that you lost in Odom, and he defends too. But I guess most "Odom" believers would laugh at this suggestion. Odom and Artest for Melo and Birdman would be laughed at any other year cause it wouldn't be an equal trade to Denver. But Melo wants out and Odom is playing at an all time high. Odom has 11 years of inconsistent play, but 29 games of consistent play this year. If I had a chance to snag Melo for Odom, this is your window of opportunity right now. If you look at the big picture, it's not that ridiculous. Especially when Odom comes back down to earth. Then you wouldn't be laughing but crying that you could have had Melo. |
You do that deal if Andrew Bynum is not a health risk. Maybe...
I know you believe it, but Birdman is no Odom... Odom even when as you put it was inconsistent. Lamar has only been inconsistent as far as scoring is concerned. Other than that he brings a lot more to the table than any other Laker save Bryant. One of the reasons the Lakers have been a winner for the last couple of years is because of those things that need to be done to be a winner. Odom has provided that while adding to the scoring arsenal mostly when it was a missing link. This season it is obvious to some, especially me that Jackson has asked for what you are seeing this season as far as scoring. Bryant came in gimpy. Socks wasn't available, hence engage Odom to add to the scoring.
One things Odom's very consistent critics will never realize is that Odom doesn't play to get popular on the "fan's computer teams," dude plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. Dr. Buss didn't bust ass to get Odom last year because of his snappy dressing. He got Odom because this guy is always the wild card in any triumphs and continues to be that...
Melo is a great scorer. However, you put him on the floor with Bryant, and suddenly the team chemistry is easily disturbed. Gasol now becomes a third option which makes the offense go from an inside out machine, to a jump shooting squad with an occasional pass into the post.
The Lakers now become beatable... Socks in the post? Same story. We thought Socks never passed back out of that post last year. Add Melo to this squad, and socks drops passing from his plans all together...
This idea sucks, and not just because of my loving me some Lamar Odom, but Kobe and Melo? One, or the other? Ok, but spare me the rocket launching to the extreme. Put Fisher along side of those two, and the ball will never see the post again... It is the silliest deal ever even joked about... _________________ "According to ESPN.com's conference projections, the Lakers will finish 12th in the West, which prompted Bryant to tweet earlier this offseason, "12th I see.." |

The max I would offer is Artest and fillers. They are in no position to barter. |

Not quite. If we were the only game in town, then yes, they are in no position to barter.
Say you feel like Santa and want to give away your PS3 to your friend for only 10 bucks. If 20 of your friends hear about it, you will surely get more than 10 bucks for your ps3. Sure, Denver is in no position to barter, so you offer them trash, then Dallas says wait my trash is a little better, then New Jersey says wait I'll throw this in, then New York says hold on I'll raise you this... You get the picture. |

I'm guessing in the brief time Gaffney spent with the team, he knows he how fanatical Laker fans are and about boards like these and is just f--king with us.
I'm not buying this one bit. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Not gonna happen. Why break proven chemistry?
After reading a few posts from the link, I'm not sure if I dislike the Celtic fans more than the Celtics themselves. _________________ Mama, There Goes That Mamba. |

I think 30 out of 30 GMs would prefer Melo and Birdman over Artest and Odom |

Actually Melo works very well without the ball. Thats why he dominated playing for team USA and was easily their best scorer. He was better then Kobe and Lebron. |
This is a really good point. He seemed very comfortable in Beijing playing off the ball. |

NJ's offer of Favors + picks is a lot better than what we can give to Nuggets. |

I know everybody is saying that Melo wouldn't fit but did anyone really think DWade, Lebron, and Bosh would fit? They seem to be playing pretty well right now. |

If Melo does not sign an extension with NJ, then it's not worth it for NJ.... |
