I don't really listen, but i assume any sports radioshow at LA would have to s [ at ] ck. It would be basically a Lakers show since basically all other sports are kind of irrelevant there. Max was great in NY cause he's really knowledgable about baseball and basketball.

This dude Max sucks for LA sports talk. I give him until the summer and he'll be gone. His New York ish doesnt play over here. I thought 710 was the Lakers station...not the Knicks or Heat station. This clown runs his mouth about the Heat this and the Knicks that...I made the move to 570 until 2pm.

I liked Michael and Andrew. Sicilliano cut you off after you made a point and proceeded without you having time to answer his agreement or rebuttal. That bugged me.

The material of the show itself is not bad.

It's just that Kellerman is an amazingly arrogant douche.

Thought you might have been joking, that would be excellent news.

Checked around and noticed that KSPN has a new GM in Scott McCarthy as of January 6th. So if Mike Thompson the Program Director doesn't see much improvement in the ratings, Max might even get the short-end of the stick.

Credit to pjc1961 @ radio-info;
"At KSPN radio, [McCarthy] will "oversee all aspects of the station as well as its valued relationships with key partners including the Los Angeles Lakers, USC (the radio home of football and men's basketball) and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim", says ESPN."

I tried it for two days, I won't be listening anymore. Now I will be listening to Hacksaw once again, caught his show this afternoon. Classic Hacksaw, "A call from an Irishman soccer hoodlum drinking on a Friday afternoon and calling the show". Gotta love Lee.

Producer Amanda Brown was probably onto something, Max Kellerman will probably be canned before long.

In the continuing saga of Amanda getting verbally pummeled, she mentioned on-air that A. Martinez admitted during the break that he had enough abuse from Max and wanted to work the evenings instead. I don't think it was a contrived radio bit, even though Max brilliantly backpedaled in the next segment by claiming Producer Amanda made everything up and was just kidding. Yeah, very much believable.

Decided quit while I was behind and listened to the "Mason/Ireland Pre-Show Show" on the other station, also known as the Loose Cannons.

McCarthy is the new GM and yes there are rumors Max will get canned soon. Mike Thompson the PD at 710 has done this before. Back in the late 90's he was the PD at the old XTRA SPORTS 1150 and he fired Joe McDonnell and hired another loudmouth New Yorker in Arnie Spanier (Oh Laker Fansssssssss) He also the was the guy that hired Karl Malone with Vic the Brick at the old 1150 for his brief stint as a talk-show host in L.A. during the NBA lockout of 1999. Now he brings in Max who is as obnoxious as can be because he worked with him in New York at the ESPN outlet up there. He's a terrible program director and the direct result is how bad the station sounds. He has Mason and Ireland doing their own sports updates. I was never a fan of Siciliano talking down to Mychael Thompson but at least he was a professional unlike Max the clown. L.A. sportsradio is as it's lowest point EVER!

^LA sports radio has gone from the days of Jim Healy/Xtra690/KMPC710 to a shell of its former self.

There have been some recent posts on another forum that PD Mike Thompson fired an Xtra 1150 radio host outside a sandwich shop. I finally found out that it was none other than Joe McDonnell getting canned from his drive-time slot.

That K.Malone and VtB show may have been one of the worst pairings/experiments ever, I didn't realize that was Mike Thompson's "work" but given the previous Spanier troll/current Kellerman disaster, I am not surprised.

As for Mason/Ireland are doing their own updates, I thought they 710AM paid so much money for the rights to Lakers-Trojans that they didn't have enough left for an update person. While I understand it's probably designed to keep people listening just like in those live ad spots, it doesn't work too well and sounds awkward. Mason trips over the updates and doesn't seem fond of doing them.

Hope that this new McCarthy (GM) will do what another McCarthy (GM) did in NY, fire Max Kellerman and Mike Thompson PD should go too.

Mike Thompson firing Joe McDonnell outside Blimpie's in Westwood is legendary in L.A. Radio circles back in the late 90's at the old XTRA 1150. Thompson is pulling the same crap at KSPN now by firing Siciliano in favor of Max. I wish there was tape or something on YouTube of that old VTB/Karl Malone. I too miss the days of XTRA 690 and KMPC 710.

The Dodgers and College spots are a huge subject around here. And believe it or not, so is the NFL due to a large contingent of Raiders fans that still exist here despite the fact that they don't

Marcellus Wiley which has been rumored for weeks to be the co-host is joining Max Kellerman on Monday. It's a good move since Wiley is from L.A. and should be a better fit than A. Martinez which is a better update man than talk-show host.
