This just doesn't feel right. Not the way that I envisioned him leaving, if ever.

Sad, I don't think D-Will will stay considering he is to blame for running off their coach. Unless he wins a championship in Utah, which will never happen as long as the Lakers or San Antonio has any say in it, he is persona non grata in Utah.

Funny thing is, im sure he was frustrated with the situation as is in Utah, he's gonna be wishing he kept Old Man River around with the (bleep) thats he's gonna have to endure.

Losing brings out the worst in these kinds of guys. I'm sympathetic to both him and Sloan. They're both in the elite class of what they do, but what they do isn't working right now. In that kind of environment, clashes are inevitable. Sounds to me as if Sloan felt he lost the team's attention, and he's been at this too long to put up with that kind of stuff so he decided to retire.

Jerry ends his NBA career without a proper goodbye from the fans and ceremony... thanks Deron! Thanks!

Good thing those "great" Utah fans know how to spell Deron's first name. Morons.

Is Jerry Sloan the longest tenured coach with the same team in major sport history or just active coaches?

Good coach. Good system. Still, he relied on a massive home court advantage over the years, due to officiating. He squeezed out so many wins that way, which he probably didn't deserve. I still respect him.

I have a hard time believing that they'll be better off with anyone else. Sloan always maximized his teams' talent. They're in for a rude awakening if they think Sloan is the problem.

You shouldn't let the fact that you have no idea what went on jade your opinion.

If Sloan coached the Lakers next season I could see him fighting Ron and making Pau cry in the first week of practice.

Saw the video of him in the press conference. I felt Mr. Sloan was about to shed a tear. Great coach. He'll be miss in the NBA.

Wait, didn't he extend for a year earlier this season?

Sad to see Sloan retire.

it's probably 0.1%, but this is what I'm thinking... will be interesting to see how things turn out in Utah....
