After all this time, I never made a connection between Gendry being a blacksmith and someday wielding a war hammer like his father.

I guess there's a rumor that Rhaegar Targaryan will make an appearance on the show at some point. In light of tonight's R+L=J reveal, I wonder if we'll also get to see Robert smashing him at the Trident with his hammer.

Also, Daenerys is inching closer and closer to mad king.

Very curious what Littlefinger's game is, obviously pitting sisters against each other but how.

Yup. They're already setting up the tension between Sansa and Arya with that scene tonight. That raven scroll was the one Cersei forced Sansa to write shortly after Ned was executed. It urged Robb to come to Kings Landing to bend the knee to Joffrey.

I don't think it was a coincidence the writers had both father and son burned to death just like the Mad King did to Rickard and Brandon Stark. I'm sure that past incident will come up in the future.

To me, this is the biggest reveal in the show to date... Jon being the true heir to the throne.

Also, seeing gendry come back was great -- his hammer is a symbol to what his father was.

unreal, i never expected to Jon being recognized as a real T. WOW.

At first, I thought they had replaced Joe Dempsie with another actor. He looks taller as well as bigger.

It was great to see Peter Dinklage get a scene that gave him a chance to show off his acting chops. It's been too long.

Hope everyone enjoyed the 1 episode with the "good guys" on top.
Don't get too comfortable with the feelgoodness. If I know GOT, it's all downhill from here.
Feel good vibes are only welcome for 60 minutes of plot time, max.

Side note: Damn the plot has been moving fast. After episodes and episodes (in past seasons) where the plot in some areas of Westeros moved at a snail's pace. Things have been in hyper drive lately.
Long travels between kingdoms take place within scenes. Narrative is laser focused on specific characters in specific areas. Advancing the plot forward faster than expected.
Hey I'm not complaining. It's made for exciting TV. It's feels like we're done with the GOT regular season and now it's GOT playoff time.

In case anyone wanted the full letter:

Quote:
"Robb, I write to you with a heavy heart. Our good king Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt. Father has been charged with treason. He conspired with Robert’s brothers against my beloved Joffrey and tried to steal his throne. The Lannisters are treating me very well and provide me with every comfort. I beg you: come to King’s Landing, swear fealty to King Joffrey and prevent any strife between the great houses of Lannister and Stark."

So, Arya is capable of killing a trained faceless assassin in the dark, yet gets caught by LF. She should have done her spying with another face. With that said, LF played his last card - Everyone in Winterfell will understand (even if they don't now) that she would write that letter to save her dad.

GOT playoff time Perfectly put.

I think someone mentioned here already but perhaps Cersei joins the war vs the WW's only to try to kill her enemies via "friendly fire". Or stays out of it hoping they lose most of their men and she is free to rule without having to put up much of a fight.

So the plan is to take 10 guys, capture a wight, run away from the Night King and the 50,000 (or whatever) other wights as fast as they can, scurry back through the wall, and then travel all the way from east watch to Kings Landing with said wight in tow to show it to Cercei, who may or may not give a (bleep).

Fool proof

Was just looking for this. Still see this is nothing more than a mere misdirection until Voltron unites and offs LF with the cats paw.

What an episode! I almost loved the storylines advancing here as much as the tv history making battle last ep. LF playing Arya. Bran seeing. Jon being a gangsta. But the person that stole the show was Gilly. Annulment? Hot damn. We gonna see Rhaegar finally. I hope it's the Tourney of Harrenhall. Doubt it'll be next episode as that will be all about the WWs and the Magnifiecent 7. I think final episode they'll show us the tourney and final Stark reunion.

I don't know what happens with Cersei moving forward. Only thing I know is that her story is tied to the big news we got this past episode.
There is a well-known prophecy about her death . But it's tough envisioning how all the pieces fit.

Bran is another interesting character to me. How does an all-knowing character fit with the story moving forward?
I guess the whole "I remember being Bran Stark. But I also remember a whole lotta of other things" statement by Bran (a couple episodes back) kinda gives the writers leeway. Otherwise as a viewer, you'd start wondering. Why doesn't he sabotage Littlefinger's plot. Why doesn't he fix X problem in the story.

Holy (bleep) so much happened this episode. Time skips all over the place to ensure all the proper setup happened.

The one thing that pissed me off is how they're continuing to deny us the end of Jaime's redemption arc. Now they made Cersei pregnant with his child so he has another reason to stay by her side until later on. I want my instant gratification... come on Jaime, kill her already.

I'm not sure Arya is a step ahead of LF... but even if she isn't in the short term, LF is a goner.

Also... Jon is the TRUEBORN heir to the throne !! I like how they've drawn all this attention to his background without making it a big deal... like Gilly just has a throwaway line about it
