Minions? Really? Is this how we talk to each other around here?

The great irony is that most of the people who tend to make their "argument" by labeling others as jockers or bashers do so because that is, in fact, their own motivation...

i actually thought of this trade before this article was even posted...and the answer is yes. with this trade (pau+odom for dwight+arenas), we would not only be addressing our pg issue, but would also have the strongest front-court twin tower combo we've see in some time...i'm talking about dwight and bynum. yup, i said it. i want them STARTING together. do u realize how impossible it would be to score on us in the paint with both Bynum AND Dwight? and if u think it's impossible, Dwight entered the league as a power forward and started his first season at that position, so he can definitely slide down to the 4...

PG Arenas
SG Kobe
SF Artest
PF Dwight
C Bynum

yea, i'd welcome it......

I'd do this trade in a heartbeat.

Dwight and Bynum together? We'd have the best defense in the league bar none.

not gonna happen, if we trade anyone for Dwight its Bynum. What are we going to do with 2 centers, makes no sense. You trade Bynum and team up Pau and Dwight.

Dwight Howard isn't Shaq in '96. He's not close to being as good, although he's more durable.

This trade would doom LA. Arenas is finished, and his contract is the worst in the NBA. Bynum and Howard are redundant.

LO/Bynum/Blake for Dwight/Nelson/Ryan Anderson.

The point isn't whether the Lakers would make that particular trade.

It's that the Sentinel has run a "Should the Magic Trade Dwight to the Lakers ?" poll and "Yes" is winning.

What matters is that it's one more thing for Dwight to not be happy about, but worse than what the columnists have been writing because it's the fans saying to go ahead and trade him.

Just like in '96.

This. The point of the exercise is to have the OS piss off D12. Vote yes no matter what!!!

EXACTLY!!!!

It's not about the merits of the trade- it's about voting "Yes" on their poll so that "Yes" stays in the lead, which will certainly filter back to Dwight.
Based on the responses so far in this thread, this point seems to be lost on many.

great. send this to dwight so that he can see how his own city doesn't even appreciate him.

but change the details of the trade because it is garbage.

i personally don't think he's finished, he was still putting up good numbers as a starter for washington before his trade to orlando..he'd be a huge upgrade over fisher, regardles. i'd take on his contract to obtain dwight.

I voted yes. Want to do my part to help Dwight make up his mind.

Right now, "Yes" (trade Dwight + Gil for Pau, LO and Blake) is winning.

I'm sure Dwight will be thrilled.

Not sure how much of that vote is laker fans and how much is Orlando fans who are resigned to him leaving and want to get the best package back.

But this is certainly one more thing that will give Dwight some cover (and that his people will cite to reporters) if he decides to leave.

The Sentinel will be a very convenient fall guy. Again.

Ouchie. Arenas does not even equate Blake's worth. That guy is done. As bad as Blake played off our bench, the guy's got heart. Arenas alls he got are firearms and finger pistols. NRA is that way --------->

This is the NBA.

So sad that a whole town turns on their franchice player like this, though. Hopefully, D. Howards takes it personally and demands to be traded to the Lakers.

This trade is horrible for the Lakers.
We get Dwight, but we part with Pau and Odom. Arenas and Blake are a wash. Pau's value is at its lowest right now after his awful playoff performance.

I didn't realize the Lakers were in the driver's seat.

OK then, Dwight Howard and JJ Redick for Luke, Caracter, Shannon and a second round pick.

he averaged 17+6 playing as a Wizard before being traded this season, sharing pg duties with John Wall....no way he doesn't have more left in the tank. this is a guy who averaged 30 points per game before his legal issues. the comparison to steve blake is pretty dumb.

You simply can't have Howard and Bynum on the same team. Anyone thinking you can play Howard at PF is kidding themselves. Remember that stint when we tried to play Gasol in the post along with Bynum? Success came when Gasol started opening up the post with his mid-range game. Howard can barely make free throws.

Any trade for Howard will have to be centered around Bynum. Or if it is centered around Gasol, then Bynum would also have to be moved for a PG/wing player. The easiest deal is just Bynum/Odom for a combination of Howard + fillers.

Superstar money for 4 years at his production. He's also a high volume shooter coming into a team where Kobe is the alpha male. Not a good fit at all.

Not a big deal. Presumably Mitch would trade Bynum at point in time for the best PG and PF combo on the market.

Dwight and Bynum would be unstoppable. Bynum has a jumper so he can space the floor like Gasol would. And on defense, forget it, no buckets.

I would do LO, Bynum & Blake for Dwight and Arenas. I think at this point of his career, Arenas would be a good tri fit. The contract is bad but I think he can still ball and create his own shots. He's a yr removed from surgery and should be back or close to form next year. Also keeping Pau and giving up Bynum means you can still have Pau take care of the scoring and Howard handles the defensive anchor. With Howard, who is pretty much reliable health-wise - you no longer need the insurance aka Odom.

So yeah I would do it but that is only if we give up Bynum instead of Pau. If you trade Pau and LO, other than it's a robbery, it also creates an imbalance because now you have 2 centers that you can't play together.

while Andrew+Howard is still formidable, I'd prefer to see Pau+Howard. better mix.

but whatever. Howard in LA is the ultimate goal.

Maybe. It could be CP3
