As much as I like Dwight I don't think he will end up in a lakers jersey. |

Are you sure?
Other moves should be made after getting D12, but if you have the best defensive center in the league, you can build more easily a top defensive team overall, perimeter defense included |

True Howard is a beast and will protect the paint, but for years, the Lakers would get killed on high screen and rolls ... point guard into the paint, penetrates and kicks - wide open shot. Or even if Howard is back there, I doubt that's gonna keep players from continuing to drive around our slow footed backcourt. Yeah Howard would do well against post ups but that was never the Lakers' problem. |

these Howard rumors are all pipe just like Bosh last year.
After Shaq leaving and mitch stealing Ariza the Magic would cringe at the thought of any deal with the Lakers.
Just like Kevin Mcfail would never trade with us when he was busy ruining Minny. |

It all depends on Dwight Howard. If he tells Orlando Management he wants to play for the Lakers and nobody else then they have no choice. Similar to the Carmelo Anthony situation with Denver. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

?????
They can still trade him wherever they want, or, more likely, just let him walk. |

It would be a really stupid idea to trade BOTH Gasol and Odom, then you have no real PF, unless you think Artest is going to be your starting PF next year. I could see Agent Zero being included in a deal (more likely Orlando uses the amensty deal on him for their own purposes), but he has not shown he has any game left since his incident with Critt in Washington.
If we traded for Howard, it would be with Bynum. I'm not even sold on that being the answer anyway. We NEED a PG and some better outside shooting. If you get Howard, but don't have a decent PG, Howard will be gettign in foul trouble. If we can't shoot any better from the outside, they will pack it in against Howard. You are no further along, and then you don't have a PF to boot. You can't count on other deals happening to make this deal work. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

1. Who is going to trade for a 1 year rental? It takes two to tango.
1. Why on earth would they do that? _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible posts! |

NO! Pau is gone deal with it. Big Drew and D12 will protect the lane without getting pushed around or psyched up. |

Drew and Dwight Howard would become the backstop of one of the greatest NBA defenses of all time.
If you had Drew and Dwight (who could be a banging PF who would still play 18 minutes a game at center) defending, you could man the 1 and 3 positions with smart, athletic guys.
If such a thing could happen in a deal, woe to the rest of this league, the potential Miami juggernaut included. _________________ M. Hicks

Too bad neither of those deals will happen. Neither gives the other team enough to get a deal done. |

Bosh didn't want out of Toronto? |
Seems purplehaze is apparently very familiar with the pipe.
Although he's right in a backwards kind of way.
Howard is in similar position to Bosh. Wants to leave- hasn't told them straight up yet that he's going to as he doesn't want to look like a bad guy.
No way Orlando let's themselves end up in Toronto's position though- they'll trade him somewhere no later than the trade deadline rather than lose him for nothing.
And if they trade him, they can make sure he goes to the West, assuming there is a Western team or two he wants to play for, such as, oh, I don't know, the Lakers. That's much better for the Magic than losing him for nothing and seeing him in Celtic green. |

That campaign to drive the Yes vote over 50% is working!
Quote: | Let's put Howard rift in proper perspective
To be sure, our coverage of Howard is complicated by his celebrity. Dozens of readers and Web users have told us — in sometimes colorful terms — to ease off Howard because our coverage will antagonize the superstar and surely drive him away from Orlando. Those readers say the Sentinel's coverage helped drive Shaquille O'Neal's free-agent exit to the Los Angeles Lakers 15 years ago. And Howard fanned those passions when he mentioned Shaq's exit in his Twitter post.
Our coverage — and our decision-making — is driven by our effort to put Howard's future in context and report any developments that arise. We also will continue to initiate online conversations about what kinds of moves the Magic should make to keep Howard or how to get value if they elect to trade him. That's what a newsroom should do. |
