Magic should leave the GM'ing to us posters, we know best. I wasn't aware that Howard possibly coming to the Lakers was some big secret that Magic spoiled. |

Being a public figure and a prominent voice of the lakers, the media can easily interpret his comments as "Magic Wants Dwight", maybe even a step further: Magic's opinion vs. Jim Buss's. Not a good way to kick off the offseason, better to just keep quiet and let the FO do their thang |

Magic also tweeted his opinion about the hockey game tonight, about how he hopes there's no NFL lockout, about how he's looking forward to his European vacation, and a half-dozen other things that streamed through his head today. That doesn't, however, mean it deserves a BREAKING NEWS thread on LG. It's Twitter, not the New York Times.

I think Magic Johnson is the most annoying, AMAZING SUPERSTAR athlete in the history of sports. |

Magic was never a GM or personnel decider, the hell are you talking about? |
It was a joke and I was trying to tie it in to Jordan. Perhaps you should read the second half of my sentence. Pretty foolish to pick up on it as a literal meaning. Obviously you post on LG, you shoulda noticed everyone around here acts like a GM. |

magic trying to use his image to influence the Laker's management. There's a reason why they wouldn't turn this franchise over to him. |

Geez, we all know this is NOT how the FO works.
Mitch is like Tommy Lee Jones in "The Fugitive" and Magic is like one of the local Chicago cops who are about 6 steps behind everyone watching the movie.
Cop: "You mean you DON'T want us to use the media?"
Jones: "Hell no, I want him to relax, see if he messes up and we can find him."
Shoot, does Magic even have a role on the team anymore? I thought he sold off his share to that wealthy surgeon or something...

Magic had some involvement in persuading Shaq to come to L.A. as I recall, and later on Malone and Payton. I don't know if Dwight respects him the way those guys did, but a little help from him couldn't be too bad. He seems to be highly regarded by most people outside of this message board. |

Well, it's a good thing he tweeted this. I don't think the Laker FO would've contacted Orlando if he didn't. |

Yeah I would take Howard... I wonder could Howard and Bynum play together? I think Gasol needs to be traded! |

If Magic actually had an say in front office matters he wouldn't have to express his opinions via twitter.
Does he actually believe Mitch Kupchak isn't aware of all the Dwight Howard rumors floating around? Mitch knew long before the Gasol trade went down they were looking to move him and beat his competition to the punch. Let's give the guy some credit. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. It's not a question of whether or not Magic has a right to an opinion. It's whether his opinion should be treated as if he's representing the Laker organization. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |
