ETA: I don't believe the "Ability to play with Kobe" is a good question. I say that because many (like myself) believe that LO would be a good compliment to Kobe as long as there is a legitimate 2nd scoring option added to the mix.

Perhaps a better question would be "Right fit for this team"

Its a good topic. It breaks down the "Biggest Topic" on the org. He is the hot button. Your approval not needed. I would appreciate your ratings though

*RB's- 9 although he is our best rebounder by far
*15ft. Shot- 6
*Outside Shot- (i assume you mean 3pt shot) 3 very poor
*Lay up- 5 misses way too many easy shots at the rim
*Finishing off the "And 1" - 5 same thing
*Defense - 7 he tries hard (although he can't guard Tim Duncan in the low post, Phil!) refs don't give him much slack
*Brains - 7
*Ability to play with Kobe(right fit for the team) - 9 he has the ability he just has to be assertive
*Asst/TO ratio - 6 average for a "facilitator" or "initiator" or whatever they call it

Lamar is an above average ballplayer who thus far seems as though he is just lacking that spark to drive himself beyond whatever limitations he believes exist in his game. I think he lacks confidence and fire in the belly. Not finishing around the rim is a MAJOR problem. Last night he actually threw down a couple of dunks. That was great to see. He needs to look to do that every time he gets the ball near the rim. He is a big, powerful guy and he needs to use that more to his advantage.

Anyone who ever again puts his name in the same sentence as Magic Johnson (or even Scottie Pippen) should be slapped. He is a long way from those guys. But he does indeed have a lot of ability. Hopefully this coaching staff can find a way to get more out of him in terms of running the offense, finishing at the rim, and taking better care of the basketball.

I like Lamar despite his shortcomings. And I think most of those shortcomings can be shorn up. I assume that's one of the reasons Mr. Jackson is being paid $10 million per anum. Let's hope for the best.

Rebounding- 9.. He isnt dominant, but 10 rpg is all we could ask for.
15ft. Shot- 5.. He doesnt have one.
Outside Shot- 7.. Needs to develop consistency but its a great weapon of his.
Lay up- 7.5.. We see so often him attacking the rim.. hes great to his left, but needs work to his right.
Finishing off the "And 1"- It's really all luck with this.. hard to rate it.
Defense- 7.. He is his own mismatch.. he is sometimes too slow to cover a 3, and too weak to cover a 4.
Brains- 7.. He needs to learn how to use his variety of skills to become an All-star.
Ability to play with Kobe- 7.. It's not so much him and Kobe
Asst/TO ratio- 8.. He's been playing different positions and its currently 2:1 which isnt really that great, but considering he isnt the full-time ball handler its pretty solid.

this explains it. Im hoping there are a few more of these.
You say he doesnt have a shot yet you give him a 5

Here ya go bounty just to let you see further that LO ranks in the top 20
I know how you hate stats and the truth they provide vs the madness from you known as "The Lakers according to bounty"

Ranks #11 in the NBA in Rebounds Per Game(10.1) Ranks #17 in the NBA in Steals Per Game(1.67)
Ranks #4 in the NBA in Minutes Per Game(41.1) Ranks #10 in the NBA in Minutes Played(617.0)
Ranks #15 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds(110.0) Ranks #14 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds Per Game(7.3)
Ranks #13 in the NBA in Total Rebounds(151.0) Ranks #16 in the NBA in Steals(25.0)

The contant accusation that LO can't shoot is overrated as well.
LO is a .444 shooter with a .309% lifetime from beyond the arc...

Don't let accomplishment stop you though! LO is a loser!

Now back to bounty's regularly scheduled roasting of LO...

You gotta stop flirting with me. if you dont want to answer dont respond. it is so black and white as to what is being looked for. If you think he is a 10 in every category post it. I think you are a bit scared to face reality that LO is an 11mil. role guy. Thats fine you know. i would agree with that. You see we agree.

I find it amusing how you switch to career numbers when it suits your purpose. LO is shooting .414 this year. Conversely, you brag about his steals this year, but his career average per game is only 1.0.

Anyway, did your post have any purpose other than attempting to derail the thread by heckling Bounty? Bounty's question is legitimate, and it has been interesting to see how people rate LO in the various categories.

Lamar Odom doesn't deserve a 10 in rebounding. That kind of rating should be reserved for guys like KG, Big Ben, or Reggie Evans.

I'm with you Shoes...

The thing with Lamar is that he's not GREAT at anything.....BUT he is good at a LOT of different things. We all know about Lamar but I'm going to point it out again:

He creates mismatches, he's 6'10", he's quick for his size, he is a decent defender, he's a way above average rebounder, he's long, he's got handles, he's really good off the dribble, and is a GREAT finisher (yes GREAT) going left. He is a nuiscanse on the opponent both on offense and defense. He is an Average shooter....BUT has RANGE on his shot. He can create his own shot, he can Post up, and he can play every position if need be. He has amazing court vision, and is an Unselfish player.

I'm sure I missed some stuff...but the thing with Lamar is that he is VERSATILE.

Every team would like to have a player of is capabilities....EVERY team. Yes he gets paid a lot of money....but he gets paid a lot of money because he can do A LOT of things on the basketball court.

Lamar is NOT a LIABILITY. Lamar is a SOLID player who is making tremendous contributions to this ball club.

And anyone who says otherwise (no offense bounty) really doesn't fully understand the game of Basketball.

It seems Bounty conveniently left out a few other key categories, which Lamar happens to be good at. Why would you want to evaluate a PF on his 3pt shooting? and why do 4 of the 9 categories have to do with scoring? Here's what's important.

Scoring - 7.5
Rebounding - 9
Passing - 7 (5.5 assists a game is probably tops for any non-pg in the L)
Ball Handling - 7 (excellent for his position)
Overall defense - 6.5 (above average presence inside, good steals and blocks)
Ability to fit into tri - Incomplete
Brains - 7

Over 25% of his shots this year have been threes.

That comment caught my interest, so I looked it up. The best assist average in the league for a non-guard is Brad Miller with 6.4.

LO is a 3rd option. He's doesn't have a scorers mentality (so far). He's a jack of all trades (at least, he has mastered rebounding).

LO's a 15/10/5 guy, a very great complimentary player.
