I couldn't stand Davis on many levels that didn't have anything to do with him moving the team to Oakland. I had my own personal boycott because of him. The straw that broke the camel's back was his treatment of Marcus Allen.

All that's over now... it's been 18 years and I'm back.

Keep on rooting for the Chargers. The Raiders nor their true fans lost any sleep without you.

Being a "true fan" is as important to a raider fan as said raider fan's attack dog and criminal record.

As a Chargers fan i've never liked the Raiders, but as a fan of football i can respect and appreciate everything that a legend like Al Davis has done for the game.

Rest in peace to a true legend, he will be missed.

That sucks. I guess he can take solace in that Oakland's not doing so bad this year. He may have been a crazy kook, but he treated most of those who worked for him like family. That says a lot of an owner (coughjimbusscough).

What are you talking about? He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in the early 90's.

Didn't care how he ran the Raider organization the past couple of years, but you can't admit that the NFL is less colorful without characters like him for owners. He was one of the few owners who stood up against the NFL establishment. How many other current owners have stood up to the NFL and sued them in court.

If this is going to be a true Raider thread Al would have been proud of, we're going to need a couple suspensions, a ban, and a lock...

No. His widowed wife, Carol, is the current owner for now...

RIP Mr. Davis

Without him there wouldn't be a team for all the haters to hate. We are and always will be the villains of the league. The Raiders were Al Davis plain and simple. I hope this team does something special this year like win the Lombardi.

JUST WIN BABY!!!

I'll always be a RAIDER FOR LIFE.

I'm a diehard Raider fan and live in LA. But the Raiders don't belong in LA...they belong in Oakland.

Don't worry...there'll be team here soon enough. Just doubt it'll be the Raiders.
