If its money I'd send a 2nd rounder to sign and trade him with someones capspace. Baron in any condition is a huge talent boost. Just having him in practices will help.

I am fine with signing Baron. Even injured and out of shape that would make him the best point guard on this team. It is not like they are turning the team over to him. I would take 24 minutes of Baron over 24 minutes of Steve Blake every day of the week.

On the other hand, I want no part of Gilbert. He actually tried in Orlando but still turned out useless. He wasn't even able to give spot minutes at times. The guy is a head case and is washed up. I don't believe Baron is either of those things.

He's not CP3, but he's definitely an upgrade. Get him!

I have been following this kid since he was in high school out here. In college I thought he would be a good pick up for the Lakers thinking it would never happen. I swear if he stayed one more year he would have been a high first round pick this kid had great size and court vision. The biggest weakness in his game was his outside shot but i hear he worked on it very well and he is knocking it down really good.

I could see him starting for this team with fisher finishing games you never know tony parker surprised the NBA when he started for the Spurs as a rookie and that turned out pretty well. It would be funny if we was looking for a great PG and had it already.

He was the 3rd pick in the '99 draft.

I think Gilbert wants to follow Howard to his next team.

He can't re-sign with Orlando.
I said to his next team (maybe the Lakers).

The tactic worked and Arenas will now be able to choose his next destination. Sources with knowledge of his thinking say that Arenas -- still trying to re-establish himself after the gunplay incident in Washington during the 2009-10 season that resulted in a 30-day stay in a halfway house from April to May of 2010 -- hopes to join Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard wherever Howard is traded.

Then Arenas must be planning on taking this season off.

(bleep), he and Arenas are the only viable options on that list i wish Aaron brooks wasn't stuck in China, I'll rather have him over Baron and Gilbert. Lakers gonna sign either one, Baron preferably.

The Lakers still have LO's TPE in hand. Hopefully some team will have a young, cheap PG step up and allow them to get rid of their incumbent for that TPE to save some money. As Cuban said, with this new CBA, being under the tax limit is huge, so that TPE could have some value.

He's also only 32. People are acting like the guy is decrepit. He's certainly not the player he was with the Hornets or Warriors, but he'd be a big upgrade over Fisher.

People are just completely flustered (and rightfully so) over the loss of CP3 so that rational thinking is a great distance away.

Baron wants to be a Laker badly. If the Lakers want him, he's theirs and he'll be motivated and will instantly be the best 1 on the squad ... period.

And for the minimum? Anyone who wouldn't want to upgrade any position for the minimum is just being silly.

Even at 32 he can still create for himself and others, Nobody on this roster other than Kobe can do that. This is something that the Lakers need desperately for this team. If baron can come here and give us 10 points with 6 assists and a steal, that would help us out dearly.

The guy went into camp at around 270 pounds last season. He is eating his way out of the league, be it at 32 or any other age.

No doubt Baron ate like a "Biggest Loser" contestant (by NBA standards) last offseason. But, he's ALWAYS wanted to be a Laker ... of that .. few can doubt.

But a 1-year rental at league minimum for someone of his capabilities even playing at a sub-par level?

I watched some highlights from his time in Cleveland he still has game. What better way to shove it back at the clips and Gilbert than to have a motivated baron Davis.

I guess we will see in February. As I voted in the poll thread, if the FO thinks it is a worthy risk, I support them and Baron.

Baron in a reserve role will benefit this team greatly.

If he signs with the Lakers ... he'll be playing by January ... perhaps month's end.

I thought it was first reported that Baron doesn't wanna go to the Heat.
