I don't think the Lakers were pursuing him. I'm sure LA was his first choice.

With absolutely no bench though.

That's what I don't understand. Why are the Lakers not even trying to improve our BIGGEST weakness?

Maybe if the Clippers run us out of the gym tomorrow and Wednesday we will make a big move. Or maybe not.

Salary Cap and Howard.

Lakers are all in with Howard, and unless you want to play for the minimum, I believe they are lining up their assest to get him.

Really think Howard will be a deadline move, and the Lakers are just waiting for the Magic to get desperate so they don't have to give up both Bynum + Gasol.

Bottom Line: Lakers have lost all hope on Kobe and aren't looking to make this team a contender this year. Everything is about the future now, and if the Kobe has a resurrection, so be it. If not, it's been a good run but time to move on. Don't agree, but that's the way things are looking.

Didn't Baron have beef with Mitch Kupchak from when he was traded to the GSW? I remember him being asked why he wasn't a Laker and he said "ask Mitch Kupchak"

It really seems that this team is going into the season with a PG rotation of Fisher of Blake again. So sad.

Another year with Derek Fisher as the starting point guard for the Lakers. I've never seen a role player have such a strangle hold on a position either through luck or attrition. He needs to go to the bench.

Went from CP3 to Baron to maybe Arenas then back to Fisher. You have to laugh at the whole thing.

Maybe they don't look at it as improvement?

no surprise. He got paid. 2.5 million vs minimum with us.

I'm sure it wasn't the just the money. He'll have a bigger role in New York than he would here.

And u don't have to play defense in New York either.

lol there's nothing else to do really but be amused by it. Ever since Fish became our fulltime starting point guard in 2001, we haven't been able to replace him with a better point guard, not because he is so good or one of the best out there...but...because...um, I dunno

And it isn't like we needed to replace him, the results since 2001 have been pretty amazing.

Well, whatever they have this year is better than last year. They still got the usual suspects: Balkman, Douglas, Walker, Jared Jeffries, they also signed Bibby. They lost Wilson Chandler but got Tyson Chandler, Bibby and Baron. So regardless, they've improved.

You do have a point, but, mgmt begs to differ when they tried to replace him in 04 with Gary Payton. And allowed him to walk a year later. And now we were/are trying to replace him again (Chris Paul?). For some weird reason its just been really difficult

Maybe they are still counting on DFish and Blake/Gouldlock for the 2nd unit.
