I'd rather give up Bynum, George and the Miami Pick

Bynum will be largely ineffective for the next few years. By trading him, we get to keep our primary bigmen, thereby making us instant title contenders.

Given Mike's three choices, I was about to vote a resounding NO. If Walsh does offer Foster -- I would only take Harrison if it was for an Artest trade swapping Kwame and Wafer -- then yes, hell yes!

Yes because if we get Artest the cap space plan is out the window. Then we suddenly can use our ending contracts to bring in a player or two. I also believe we have a good shot at landing a Lorenzen Wright or Cato next year with a multi year MLE.

we only have half the MLE left...you really think either of them will sign for 4 years at 10 mil?

Kwame, George for Artest and Croshere works under the CBA. We lose kwame but we have turiaf coming back and bynum improving, we play bynum more and let him get his skills together. Croshere adds an outside shooter at 6'10. Artest gives us a shut down defender with scoring ability.

Lineup:

Mihm, Bynum
Odom, Cook, Turiaf
Artest, Walton,Croshere
Bryant, Profit
Parker, Sasha

This team is very interesting. If they stay healthy, they could be a force. Bynum would have to start playing well consistently, like 5points 5 rebs a game. Turiaf would have to start playing well as far as hustle and heart by the end of the year. I would like to take a chance if they do go for it.

Bynum is a real back to the basket player with good hands, 7'+, long arms, great shot blocker. Mihm and/or Kwame are none of those things. We know Mihm's upside, and it is likely Kwame will take as long as Bynum to develop. Don't sacrifice the future for instant gratification. No way I would trade Bynum, I would gladly give up either Mihm or Kwame for Artest, but not both.

I'm not talking about this years MLE. Adding Artest now doesn't make us a championship team, yet. This season would become a meshing year letting the chemistry between the core build. Next season (when we have a full MLE) would be the year to go for it.

If Artest was a guarentee for the next 5 to 6 years, yes, but the chances of him retiring or whatever are high. Giving up Kwame and George is less of a risk then giving up Bynum. Any way you look at it, Bynum will be a star in this league, so no way in hell you give up a 7'1 280 pound center at 18 who has upside, for a guy who MIGHT play the next few years.....

We don't have the MLE next year...incase you didn't notice there is a new CBA rule which states that you can only use the MLE once every two years, or use whats left over the next year. Therefore we only have 2.5 mil left for next year
